-
What? No reply from SteveA?
-
No, if someone says, "I'll bet you'll reply to this!", since there is nothing to reply to; that person smply wants to have the last word.Yes, if someone says "Blah blah blah you're a dickhead and here's why blah blah blah. I'll bet you'll reply to this!"Hey, are you hijacking this thread?
-
Ok, So ive been using the patch religiously for like 5 months with out a condom, and have been having sex on average once a day, and havnet gotten pregnant. I should be ok for not having that problem right?
-
All that can be said is that it's 99%+ (per year) effective for the average woman. But not getting pregnant is always a good sign.
-
What do you mean by 'per year'? Since its effectivity is the same every year, wouldn't it be acceptable to leave it out?
-
I have no idea why i have two children after being on the pill, i was on the pill from when i was 16 and had my first child when i was 23............go figure...........i wasn't on the pill for very long before i got pregnant will my youngest, say about 6 to 8 months.............like i said i have no idea why it happened..........and the last thing i wanted is to scare people with my experience, but what happened happened and i can't change it, and wouldn't for the world.
-
With the standard b/c pill, taken perfectly correctly, the chance of pregnancy is around 99.9% over the course of a year. That means that in a one-year period, there's a 1-in-1000 chance of pregnancy. Over the course of two years, there's a 1-in-500 chance. Four years, 1-in-250. And so on.Some people interpret "99.9% effective" to mean that there is a 0.1% chance of pregnancy each time they have sex, which is not correct.
-
my eldest is 11, and the youngest is 7, those were both conceived while on the pill............maybe things have improved since then LOLThey probably did, I'm sure that in the span of a decade they'd work out any "glitches". woot for condomless sex!! (with a person who you love and know is clean only!)
-
I know all about anti-biotics, and used condoms when i took them.........im 34 not 14, and im not as stupid as you lot obviously think i am.Jen, not sure if there were any glitches, or whether there was something about my body that didn't like the pill..........LOL no idea.
-
LOL it didn't come across that way hon, sorry..............im having a really bad day.................forgiven????
-
we should both go and get at hot candle lit bath, with a nice glass of wine or somat..........sounds like we both need it LOL hugs
-
Well, OK then.> They probably did, I'm sure that in the span of a decade they'd work out any "glitches".I'm not sure if they're more effective at preventing pregnancy, but the side effects have be fine-tuned. In the old, old days (the 60's), the hormone levels were very high, which caused side effects in a lot of women.

:scream_cat: I'm just trying to reassure myself...

Ok everyone. I think everyone missed the point that Angel (and dare I say Steve) was trying to make is that no form of birth control (other than abstinance) is 100% effective. So, no matter what form you use there is always some chance that you will get pregnant during intercourse. Now that said. My wife and I used birth control pills as our only form for several years (successfully). As long as you understand your risks, are in a relationship where you know your safe from things like STDs, it is perfectly acceptable to use that as your only form of birth control. It is just that your chances of getting pregnant are larger than if you combine it with another form. All activities have risk. How much are you willing to accept. Bye the way, in my family I can tell you which form of birth control failed for each one of us. I also have 2 brothers who were concieved while my mother was on the pill (and we are talking the much stronger version from the 1960's)
-
thanks for that hon, you say what i am trying to say WAY better than i can say it....................see what i mean grin
-
Your welcome. But you usually say things very well yourself. Hope your day has gotten better.

A buddy of mine got his wife pregnant after he had the nut snip surgery done. He had the nut snip surgery done because his wife got pregnant even though they always used a condom. Some women are just extremely fertile. Either that, or the kids will grow up to look like the mail man. They say 1 out of every 5 children born are Chinese. let's see if the next one they have is Chinese (I shamelessly stole that chinese thing from a comedian I saw somewhere, sorry)

this isn't always effective as well, my uncles ex was told by a doctor she'd never have a kid b/c of some defect in her uterus, she had just had her second about 2 months ago, and the elder is around 3yo
