Today, Some guy have me a bible. What should I do with it? I mean not like destroy it.. But like what are some interesting parts.. Its one of the little oranges ones... Lately, I have been more interested in God due to the traffic accident.. I figured.. He could have killed me.. He should have.. I don't understand why the car didn't flip.. It should have... Looking at it all.. IT SHOULD HAVE FLIPPED!!! Right on the top of the car... smashing us..But..It didn't.. Its so hard to understand why he didn't.. So, Maybe that was God's way of showing me that he wants me here.. Also, ( Religion question now ) Is there a religion that believes in God, But has no religion? or a website with a brief breakdown of each religion? Thanks Guys

Eh... hmmm, i believe in god and have a lot of beliefs but I don't consider myself a part of a named religion. I'd like to see a site that breaks down the religions also.

I believe, if I know what you're talking about, it's the New Testament. Start with the Gospels. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.Basically, go in order of the Bible. If it's a full Bible, start with the books above, then move to the Old Testament and read Isiah, Jeremiah, Malachi, and the rest of the prophets. Avoid Numbers (a bunch of "and the son of...and the father of...and the brother of...and thesister of...") at the beginning of your study. You should definately read Revalation towards the end of your study or at least after the prophets. My advice:1. The Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John)- New2. Acts- New3. The Prophets (Jeremiah, Isiah, Malachi...)- Old4. Revelation- Last book of New5. The Letters (Hebrews, Thessalonians, Corinthians, Colossians)-New6. Psalms- Old

im leaning towards this doctrine below:
An agnostic believes several things. First, an agnostic believes that certainty about "first principles" or truth is unattainable. Only perceptual phenomena are objects of exact knowledge. Second, agnostics believe that confirming or denying the existence of God or gods is impossible.
though i believe in god,but not the god that watches every move you make, wants you to perform practices and all that.
i dont believe in the god that knows you exist, loves you like a son/daughter,punishes you, rewards you, performs miracles, etc.i got this way from believing in god my whole life and then disbelieving that contenents are starving and suffering while god does nothing,i decided he/she isnt worthy of praise.and if i was to believe in god i'd resent god.
so im pretty agnostic.if theres a god i'll see sometime when it matters most.and i'll tell him how i feel.
though, thats what i believe,im not saying it's right or wrong.it works for me,and that the way i like it. -

It makes great firewood! Else I'd just toss it in the trash or something... But I like the firewood idea- I have a fireplace maybe..... *drifts off into thought*

Have a look at http://www.comparative-religion.com/. (There's a different site without the hyphen, but that's really a Christian site.)
For heavier studies, http://www.academicinfo.net/religindex.html.

In reply to: Lately, I have been more interested in God due to the traffic accident.. I figured.. He could have killed me.. He should have.. I don't understand why the car didn't flip.. It should have... Looking at it all.. IT SHOULD HAVE FLIPPED!!! Right on the top of the car... smashing us.. It didn't flip because of the laws of physics, nothing more. Turning to religion because you don't understand something is silly, but it is really the reason for religion existing in the first place. People are stupid, and they need a quick and easy answer for everything. "The car didn't flip, I don't know why...wait...GOD! That's it!"
-
You can believe that, but don't sit there and say people are stupid because or that it's silly.Phrase it better like "I don't understand why..."I believe God has everything to do with the things that happen in my life and I don't appreciate being called "stupid" or "silly" for believing that, even if you didn't outright say that, it's implied.
-
Well I totally agree with 7-10. Thinking some god had something to do with it is the easy way out. It was physics, nothing more or less. If your smart and actually THINK, you can always find a logical explanation for things..
-
So implicitly, you are saying people who believe God has a hand in things are STUPID and DON'T THINK???
-
I'm saying that when you don't know the answer, it's silly to assume that god is the answer.
-
I agree with you, 7/10 - that's what is called the "God of the gaps". But that's not necessarily why FaBMX is thinking about religion. When you've had a close shave, it prompts you to have another look at your fundamental philosophies of life and death. You realise it's an area you've neglected. And I don't think most people who believe in God, do so just to explain things they don't understand. If God were a human invention, I think he'd be less troublesome.

I was in a serious accident a few years ago but i just had the ol' shit happens attitude and got on with my life. But i have an uncertain view on god, theres no evidence to say either and the fact that something has come outta nothing, y'know the universe 'n' all. This shit gotta come from somwehere ay?But i don't think this day and age getting too wrapped up in god is the way to go. Yeh, sure live by the bible or whatever, it does have some interesting points and it very much has shaped our society although its relevence is less now than ever and in our busy lifestyles praying 'n' church 'n' shit are really a waste of time. As long as you live a good life regardless of if you suck god off or whatever you'll go to a good place if you beleive thats where your gonna go.
-
If what you're trying to say is if your a good person then you go to heaven, then I agree.
-
Ok.. I'm stupid.. Your right.. I'm a complete moron.. Who doesn't deserve to be here.. I will go stand in front of a train now...
-
Don't listen to him.Do what you want. If you feel that God saved you so you could find yourself, then search for God, and the answers. Please, if you have ANY questions, PM me, please.
-
Basically, yes.
-
Well you're stupid for not believing in God.w/e. You could be polite about your differences rather than a fucking bitch.
-
Worried has a point.
"If your smart and actually THINK, you wuld see that God is a part of this world"
"it's silly to assume that god isn't the answer"All I did was merely take a couple of statements and flipped their meaning. The nature of them seems like it intends to be offensive.
No one can say God did or didn't create physics and no one can say God altered or did not older physics in that area at that moment. That's why it's all a dead end debate. But please refrain from offending other people.

Fuck off, your the one who asked if thats what I meant- I'm just bein honest...Honestly!- just try to think logically.
