And that is what I do.
-
I don't have gay friends...
-
I'm a retard, and you're a hateful homophobic bigot who fools around with other women, and life is just grand. You guys can't define the word "support", much less the deeper reasons for your bigoted feelings, and I'm a retard. OK, then.
-
I don't know where you get the idea from that Eddie is embarrassed to tell people hes gay shrugs
-
In reply to: If you're soo happy with yourself.. why are you embaressed to tell people about your homosexuality? He never said that (see quote below) and like Angel, I don't know why you think that every gay person wants everyone to know their sexuality. In reply to: If I am asked I will be honest, but I don’t publicize my sexuality.
-
One good thing i might add to this discussion is that on New years day, it became legal over here for same sex couples to have a civil marriage.............so it shows that the narrow minded attitudes are not prevelant everywhere.
-
OKay we're moving to the UK..can we live with you Angel?? hehe =-P
And it's nice to see other countries making progress, it gives me hope that the USA will follow suit. I just hope it's sooner than later, but I won't hold me breath.
-
LOL course you can hon, tho i would bring a tent if i were you, we have no spare rooms in the house Actually Elton John and his partner were one of the first gay couples to have the civil marriage, he looked dead chuffed with himself, and they both looked really happy, it was nice actually.
-
I love Elton! I red about his wedding and see it on the news as well. And I like camping outside so that works for me.. though umm.. it's kind of could there right now hehe.. might need some warmers hehe
-
I don't like him actually, hes too much of a drama queen for me, but i just felt really pleased to see how happy he and his partner were.......... Oh and yeah its BLOODY FREEZING here today
-
ANGEL! Why are you getting all these men moving in with you???! I'm very jealous... lol. I live in the UK too, albeit in the shitty area with nothing to do haha

Gay marriage has been legal in Massachusetts for a few years now (and civil ceremonies in Vermont for even longer), and so far the stars haven't fallen out of the skies, heterosexuals haven't all divorced, and no one has married his horse.I knew that no1 would bring in a racial interpretation (I should have warned the mod), but she has a valid point. A lot of the hostility toward homosexuals and their "lifestyle" sounds very much like the hostility of whites toward blacks in the first two-thirds of the 1900's. One of the most ironic things I ever heard was an interview with Alan Keyes. He was railing about how badly and unfairly he was treated during his run for the Republican presidential nomination in 1996, because he's black. He was then asked a question about homosexual rights. Without missing a beat, he spewed vile, hateful rhetoric about homosexuals and homosexuality. If you replaced "homosexual" with "nigra", you'd think you were listening to the typical white racist 1960's southern politician. The irony was lost on him.At the end of it all, how people treat one another is more important than what people think of other people. In the 50's, the typical white Southerner considered blacks to be a lower form of life. At the time, blacks needed fair treatment more than they needed acceptance. After a generation or two of white people living in a society where blacks are treated more fairly, whites came to accept blacks as human. Hopefully the same thing is happening for gay people. So, if some people don't like gay people or the "lifestyle" (whatever that means), it's too bad, but the important thing is that people be treated fairly.________________________________________________________________sdp, even though you believe that if people are born gay, that it's a birth defect, I still get the idea that you are put off (actually, grossed out) by the idea. If it is a birth defect, then why would you feel differently about a homosexual than you would about someone born with any other birth defect, like a missing limb or extra fingers?________________________________________________________________StrapingYoungLad> (from the parallel thread):In reply to:I dont believe homosexuals are born gay par se. Rather I follow the theory given by soem scientists a few years back. Most peiople are born hetero and couldnt really be anyhting else. But some people are born without what makes them hetero and thus have to develope their heterosexuality in their formative years. Now this could develeope in various ways, such as getting a foot fetish, a sexual fondness for pain, being a pedophile, or in many cases being GAY. The politically correct brigade didnt like this cos it lumped gays and pedo's in the same category but frankly, science is science. Not to say this is proven out right but its certianly interesting.Science is science, eh? So you've found a scientist who has a hypothesis that comports with your beliefs, and that's the end of the story, forever? How was the hypothesis tested?> Not to say this is proven out right"Proven outright"? Is there even a shred of evidence to support the idea? This idea of "developing their heterosexuality" sounds like a load of nonsense to me, and it contradicts current knowledge and research. But it is a convenient hook to hang one's prejudice on ("Those buggers choose not to change and be normal!")

:open_mouth: Steve! Did I just really read that you wrote the word "no1" ???!!!??! wow

It's a long handle, if you're not copying-and-pasting.Isn't there a character on Star Trek with that name? (There was a Bevis and Butt-Head episode, where, in a takeoff of Star Trek, Butt-Head, as Captain Picard, told Bevis, "Number 1, I order you to take a number 2.")
