My doctor is an Ass and he won’t prescribe my birth control pills anymore. I get migraines so he says there is some big risk of me having a stroke. I have been on the pill for 4 years now, and i have been fine. Well I am out of pills, and I need to go to my annual appointment. I don't want to go back to him because he won't prescribe me pills. I don’t want to go to someone new because the office visit is like $200.00. If I do go back to my normal, pain in the ass doctor, what are some other good but cheap methods of birth control? I know he won’t give me the shot or the patch either.

What are you, kidding? You'll be fine until you get brain damage or die, and then you'll be brain damaged or dead, if you get a stroke. I know a couple of women who can't take the b/c pill because it made their blood pressure go way, way high.
There are condoms, diaphragms (does anyone still use them?), cervical cap, and other IUDs.

maybe in the last 4 years you have developed the risk factors that make you a canidate with a higher likely hood of a stroke? Maybe hes not being an ass, but is instead doing his job and using his best judgment in caring about his patients.other methods include condoms, theres a shot, and there is some wir they stick inder your skin in the arm. how bout that frisbee looking thing? a diaphram? or maybe you can talk to your doc and find out exactly what it is that makes him think your no longer a canidate for the pill? Its possible ther were other things he wasnt aware of ausing the problems and with out the total picture he misdiagnosed your risks withthe pill.

Well my regular doctor that I go to says I am much more likely to get pregnant than have a stroke. He was prescribing pills for me for a few months, until I could get back to the OBGYN. But he wont prescribe me pills anymore becuase he says that is the job of my OBGYN
-
How old are you? a regular appt. with the OBGYN isnt a bad idea pending your age and past medical history. Forget about the money, lifes a bitch with out money but its not everything. and if its money that influences you think of how much a baby costs when you dont want one, think of hte expense of having something that could of been caught early with a OBGYN exam that was missed and now takes thousands of dollars to attempt to fix and could be potentionally fatal.
Go see the OBGYN and go over your concerns and needs. Maybe they can offer a affordable comfortabe solution to the birth control problem. That is part of all that they went to school for so long to learn. -
Im 21 and I have been going to the OBGYN regularly since I was 17. It just sucks because I don't have a job right now to pay for anything new. The pills were only costing me 3 dolors for 3 months though my parents insurance. The insurance won’t cover office visits or certain other things though.

A friend of mines girlfriend had a stroke, she was 23, they say it was caused by the pill and other factors. Its not worth the risk, there are lots of other ways, yeah they might not be as easy as the pill, like condoms, etc etc, but it really isn't worth it.
