Jewish circumcision
-
yes,i'm jewish.we have whats called a britmillah.it is a celebratory kind of event.we have a party so to speak.not a bash, just food and drinks for the attendants, family and friends they are.everyone gets to witness the circumcision.and well we fully circumcise.i know some none-jewish people have half or semi circs.im not sure how many though?so we dont take off excessive skin if thats what you're wondering.if you have anymore questions feel free to ask.
-
ohh see i heard that alot more is taken off then normal therefore its smaller then normally or something, but i was confused cause i was like how much more can they take off? lol thx

In reply to:
everyone gets to witness the circumcision.
:open_mouth: I couldn't watch that! :open_mouth: :frowning:
I hope I never get invited to one of those (I have a lot of Jewish friends, but I'm not Jewish). I definitely couldn't stand to watch that.

i dont look, most peeps dont either,my grandfather fainted at my brothers.
-
yeah, there's a huge anti circ rally, and you'll read alot of anti circ stuff on the net.hey, whaever, circ hasnt encumbered me.if it's not done properly then you may be looking at complications like that.im no authority on this,so im not totally sure, but from what i gather.and the rabbis are doing circs are experts, they do them routinely.so they know what they're doing.
-
yes they are trained to perform it
-
I am not religous at all but I would like to thank Jewish people for inventing this procedure! Being circumcized is great.
-
LMAO. God bless the jews. Jesus was a jew.
-
lol yea i know. but i heard that jewish people cut off alot more then normally leaving it smaller. is this true? how much more could be cut off?
-
Actually, circumcision has been around for a long time and nobody knows for sure who the first people to circumcise were - it probably predates judaism.Another difference between religious circumcisions and hospital (non-religious) is that religious circs are done freehand with a special knife. In the hospital, the baby is strapped down and a clamp is tightened around the penis to crush the foreskin.

ahh u poor boys

I'm actually among the fortunate few (American-born men in my age group) who was not circumcised. I'm not trying to start another bitter debate over cut vs. uncut. I'm just saying I'm fortunate because it is a painful procedure. I worked in a hospital one summer and I remember seeing a room next to the maternity ward called "circ room." I witnessed the whole procedure - the room was soundproofed but you could tell the baby was screaming like hell (they generally don't use an anaesthetic). I thought to myself at the time that I'm glad I never went through that (even though I wouldn't have remembered it - but still what a way to come into the world!) and if I ever had a son - there'd be no way I'd let anyone do that to him.
-
In reply to: and if I ever had a son - there'd be no way I'd let anyone do that to him. I agree. I was cut at birth unfortunately, but I will make damned sure my son isn't circumcised. Did you know the American tradition of circumcision was started many years ago to prevent masturbation? That was how the tradition started here! How stupid is that?!?
-
Egyptian priests practiced circumsision for cleanliness
-
question about the jewish practice though, how old were you guys when you had this "procedure" and secondly, were you under any sort of anasticia.
-
I'm now uncut, but what if I later decide to be cut (not on a religious matter, I'm not jewish). If I do it for a non-religious reason, they will use drugs for the pain, right?
-
Of course. Did you think the just just cut it off without an anesthetic?
-
there are some african rituals that define you as a man only when you can bear that pain alone.
-
Ummm yeah... they can have it.
