Hey all i was wondering what your takes on dreams are. Do you think they are an image into the future, maybe destiny? Or maybe they are just what you deep down want, or maybe its just something that happened earlier in the day so you are re-living it? BTW i had no idea where to post this

Dreams

I personally most dreams have a deep down meaning to them. A lot of time it's hard to understand the meaning, but it's there. They usually come about in a stressful, exciting, sad and other emotion times in life.I won't go as far as to say dreams are telling you the future (though I won't say sometimes their not... the brains pretty impressive). Dreams can tell you a lot about a situation if you want to take the time to sit down and really analyze it.

dreams usually are your minds way of sorting through stuff you have thought, seen or been influenced by during the day, tho saying that I think they are sometimes a visual enactment almost of your feelings. For example, at certain times of my life I have a recurring dream, ok, my mum lives in the middle of no where, like myself, i am at her house, and she has a front door and back door, parked out side the front door is a car, with my children in it, and i can't get to them because there are 3 veloceraptors (no idea how to spell that - from jurrassic park) circling around the outside of the building, i have to try and get out of a door get my kids and get back in before one of them sees me LOL i have had this dream about 4 times in my life, i never see the ending, but i always see it as, im scared and fighting for something, and there are things against me.I dream a lot, everynight really, and can always remember the one i have before i wake up, and some are REALLY wierd LOL
-
LOL wow, i dont know what to say. Well they usually say that u remember the last dream you have. I dont know what to make of my dreams though. I guess dreams can be what you want them to be. In a way, if you want to take a dream a certain way than you will. For example, in my case i keep having dreams about a particular girl. Well it seems i only have these dream about her when i see her that day. I guess im just doing that because shes fresh on my mind. Another part of me says that i had that dream cuz i want her. But i guess thats the magic of dreams, you never really know what to make of them. Wierd things that have happened though....One time i had a relative in the hospital, that same night another relative had a wierd dream that had to do with that person. Well the next morning it turned out that the person in the hospital died. It was really wierd, and now that my uncle is in the hospital, i hope no one has any dreams like that. I guess this just proves how powerful the mind is, and there are some things in life that arent meant to be figured out. In my eyes, its something that is left to God

ata7> Do you think they are an image into the future, maybe destiny? No. And there's no evidence for it; just wishful thinking.ata7> Or maybe they are just what you deep down want, or maybe its just something that happened earlier in the day so you are re-living it?I think that's closer to the truth. People dream about what they are concerned with, whether they're fears, unresolved issues, etc.I've read one of Carl Jung's books about symbolism (interesting from cultural perspective) and dreams (very speculative). I'm not really sure how much you can get from dreams, other than an insight into the things that are really on your mind, consciously or unconsciously.Ntro> Dreams can tell you a lot about a situation if you want to take the time to sit down and really analyze it.Dream interpretation is very subjective, and people read into the dream whatever they want to.Angel> dreams usually are your minds way of sorting through stuff you have thought, seen or been influenced by during the day, tho saying that I think they are sometimes a visual enactment almost of your feelings. That sounds quite reasonable.ata7> and there are some things in life that arent meant to be figured out. In my eyes, its something that is left to GodI agree that a lot of things are not worth obsessing over, but I completely reject that statement.ata7> BTW i had no idea where to post thisWhenever there's a question, the right answer is almost always, "Community Forum".

I've read an article about dreams in a german magazine, but I really can't remember many things. Anyway, I'll write here my personal opinion about dreams.Every night we see dreams. We simply forget them next morning, because they weren't important to us and most of the times we are just reprocessing in our minds (and subconsious) everything what we've done this day. Of course, when our subconsious and mind hit a jackpot (something that is really troubling us but we cannot clearly face it), it tries to reproduce our feelings (fears& hopes & joy) with symbols into our dreams. Of course, when we see something really strange and interesting in our dreams, we can remember it!This is why, most of the times, when we dream something, our feelings have an immediate influence to our dreams. For example, if you can control your feelings inside a nightmare, you can easily handle everything and turn a nightmare into a wondeful dream. I've done this many times and most of the times I can "control" my dreams. Once I saw I was drowning, but I immediately understood I was just dreaming and I managed to breathe inside the water :P.Anyway, I haven't seen a nightmare for years, and most of the times I can understood the meaning of my nightmares. When I lost my grandmother, I saw many awful nightmares with her, because I couldn't keep a promise I made to her and I couldn't face the fact that I would never see her again [the message underneath my nightmare]Imagination also plays through our mind a big part in our dreams

Do you think they are an image into the future, maybe destiny?Contrary to Steve's answer to this question, they sometimes are a vision into the future. Many of my friends and I have had those dreams where you see something, then it happens later on (a couple of days later, weeks, etc.).>i have to try and get out of a door get my kids and get back in before one of them sees meTrying to get your kids to safety. I'm glad there are people like you who actually care about their kids.>she slashed my stomach opened then I woke up and my stomach was hurting.I had a dream kind of like this many, many years ago. My house was being attacked by a foreign military with BB guns and I hid in my house, but one of the guys saw me through a window and shot me in the back. It hurt really bad and the pain would just randomly come up about once a day, but it would become less frequent until it stopped happening a couple of years ago. It was wierd because I checked my bed and there was nothing in it that would've caused that pain to happen.Sadly, I only remember one small section of a dream or sometimes I cannot remember a dream, but I can remember the emotions that I was feeling during it as if it were a video and I can have that feeling rush through me. It's odd to be able to just change your mood as if it's like changing a setting on a computer, no extra thought processes involved. Sadly, I can only remember an emotion or one short part of my dream (a couple of seconds long) once every month or so. No matter how hard I try, I just can't remember any part of the dream that I want to. Most of my dreams involve that current special someone. They usually only involve just talking to him, because I have yet to even do that. I really like those dreams.

Many of my friends and I have had those dreams where you see something, then it happens later on (a couple of days later, weeks, etc.).I can sit here and think about all kinds of stuff, and some of it will happen in a couple of days, week, months, or years. I'll forget about all the thinks I thought about that didn't come true, and I'll think about all the things that did come true, and then I'll think I'm like the kid in The Shining.Redrum, dude.

I had a dream about a certain little blondie and then it really happened. I'm totally psychic!
-
Well there is obviously no way to prove that your dreams predict the future, i just was curious as to what everyones opinions were on it
-
dreams are about the past rather than the future.
