Okay, well there's this girl that I like, but I'm a little worried about the age difference between us. She's exactly 3 years and 1 day older than me. Now that doesn't seem that big, but I'm 16, which would make her 19. I don't want to hear 'Well, if you were 40, then she'd be 43..' because we're not in our 40s. 16 and 19 seems like kind of a big difference to me, especially since she's the older one.. what do you guys think? What would be the biggest age difference you guys could have at my age? Any help is much appreciated.

Too big of an age difference?
-
yeah thats criminal for her to be involved with a 16 year old, but it depends on what your states laws are.
-
Well I don't know what the law is in Canada but I don't think it will be that bad. My bf will soon be 2 years older than me (16) in over a month but I think there's anything wrong with that. It depends what the law is over there. If you'll be getting freaky deaky with her then maybe but if it's like a bf/gf relationship that should be fine.

Ok, dude...
I have been in a couple age difference relationships myself.
When I was 16 years old, I was in a relationship with at 29 year old. Bad idea, shouldn't have done that, should have never happened.
When I was 21 years old, I was in a relationship with a 16 year od. That was an awesome time in my life.So I don't think that 3 years is a big difference. But she may.

actually 16 and 21 might be a problem too.
-
nah, don't worry about it. There are lots of other things to worry about, this should not be one of them. If you are having sex with her, then that makes it even better. If not, then I'd say there is a problem. The best relationships have no age boundaries. It just means that the two of you are very open minded and aware. How is the sex? Is it good?

The best relationships have no age boundaries. It just means that the two of you are very open minded and aware.Sometimes there are legal boundaries. Also, if one person is a teen and there other's an adult, there is an imbalance in maturity, and the older person can more easily manipulate the younger person into doing things that he doesn't really want to do, like have sex. I'll bet a 15-year-old girl is dating a 20-year-old guy is much more likely to be in a sexual relationship than a 15-year-old girl dating someone around her own age.I suppose it's possible that it could just be innocent, but I would be very suspicious of a 25-year-old dating a 15-year-old. The police probably would be as well.In the original poster's case 16 versus 19 is not as big a deal (still not sure about the legality), but aren't girls usually more mature than boys of the same age? And then three years are being added onto that? I dunno...I'd keep my eyes wide open.

Sure, if it's downright illegal, then that's bad. 15 and 25 is a 10 year difference and that could be justified as "corrupt."3 years and the older being just a year above 18 isn't quite as bad. I wouldn't get worked up about it, and as long as there is no admission of sexual activity, there is no reason that the law should be involved. I can't think of a single 16 year old boy who didn't want to have sex. No girl is going to put that into his head, unless he is mentally challenged. In that case, I'd see a problem. The law is the law though, and it should be followed. I'll agree with you there. I just don't see a 16 year old boy being coersed into sex. If anything, I'd say it would be like those damned child-proof caps on the advil that I have to ask my niece to open for me. I hate those stupid things. I mean to say, the 16 year old would be the one coersing the 19 year old into having sex. I believe all 16 year old boys are walking erections looking for something to stick it in.

I can't think of a single 16 year old boy who didn't want to have sex. No girl is going to put that into his head, unless he is mentally challenged. In that case, I'd see a problem. The problem with an older guy / younger girl relationship is that an older guy is better equipped to manipulate a girl into having sex than a younger guy is, regardless of the fact that they might both be horny. An older person with a teenager is tends not to be an equitable ("level") relationship. But, as I said, that probably doesn't apply to the original poster, since he's a younger boy with an older girl.Still, it must be odd when a girl who's may be in her first or second year of college shows up somewhere with a guy who may be a sophomore or junior in high school. If he's mature, it must be pretty cool for him, I guess. If they can both handle the relationship, maybe it can work. What do you think of female teachers dating their (high school) students?
-
I'm jealous. That's what i think of that.I had a few teachers in highschool who were in their mid 20's and I would have loved for them to "hold me back, after class." As far as being the parent of a 16 year odl boy who is getting mounted by his teacher... well...There is a certain sacred trust between teacher and student. I personally would never break that trust. It's a lot like "doctor/patient" and "lawyer/client" relationships. There is an issue of trust that the one is steering the other int eh right direction and by taking advantage of the student, the trust is misplaced. Sure, I think it is wrong from an "upright citizen, concerned parent" stand-point, but damn... if I was 16 again, and hot Miss So-and-so told me to stay after class for some special "punishment," then hell yeah, I would have been the happiest 16 year old on the planet.Come to think of it, I think all young female teachers should be required to wear the most unattractive clothing ever made, and be seen only from the neck up. When I was teaching, I remember a fellow teacher getting reamed out for wearing a skirt that was too short. I didn't have a problem with it, but apparently some of the younger boys who were short enough could get a pretty good glimpse up it when she sat down on her desk. I think after she realized how bad it must have looked to a 3 foot tall kid, she never wore the skirt again. Sex is like santa claus. You want kids to believe it never happens for as long as possible. Then one day, you realize they know it is, and that santa claus is really their drunk father stumbling around in the dark at 3am.eh... I got sidetracked... point was, it's wrong, unless it happens to you.

It seems like to big of a difference.
-
Personally I think a 16yr old with a 19yr old is fine and i dont think either you or the other person would be judged with such a trivial age difference.
-
What's a non-trivial age difference?19 - 15?19 - 14?19 - 13?

hey matei've dated a girl who was 3.5 years older than me. age difference meant nothing to us and we saw past it very easily. however soon there was differences between us (cause of the age actually..), and we broke up.as long as you're both interested, you should be able to get past the age difference. it's all about maturity.i'm currently going out with a girl who is 4.5 years younger than me. i'm loving it (and if you do your maths, that makes my ex-gf 8 years older than my current gf... and i'm 21..)
