While I was playing football I took a pretty hard blow to the shin less than a week ago. My only concern is that it might be fractured...I looked up the symptoms of a fracture and it doesnt seem like I have alot of them..can anyone help me out? If im worrying about stupid stuff I dont wanna go to the doctors and waste my money lol. Well my symptoms are slight bruising (not a big defined patch), swelling..not large, when I scratch the injured part it feels like there is not as much 'sensation' there like the rest of my leg does..kind of like a 'numb' feeling. I can move fine..walk/run etc. It does not hurt when left alone although it did hurt a bit when i jumped or made impact but it hurts alot less now. I thank anyone who read all of this or can help

Shin injury.

It sounds like you bruised your shin. If you fractured it you wouldn't be walking.

Last autumn i banged my left tibia against some steel bar. First hours did't have any problem, just felt numb from the pretty strong impact. Some time after that it started to hurt, was kinda limping instead of walking. Went away in a few days. But since then i kinda have some small problems supporting myself on my left foot. Still around after a few months. Nope i didn't see any doc. And since then my left foot ( the part around the middle of the tibia / the impact zone ) is more sensitive to cold and that's some nasty shit for me as i use to walk around in tshirt and shorts when it's snowing

like ineligible said. If you fractured it, youd know it....trust me

aSk^Ghost, you really should see a doctor about that.

I heard that before and I'n not really kinda do it. But if there are some medics around I'd be glad to get diagnosed through the net

Hm its been about 2-3 weeks after the injury..the swelling went down a little but its still there...is it normal for the swelling/bump to be there for that long? the bruise is mostly going away..color wise (besides a few spots) the impact was sort of hard..can anyone help? the previous posts referring to my first one were very helpful..thank you

Swelling after 2-3 weeks is sick. smth`s not alright O_oI ain't got no bruises left but if i press down with my hand on the ex-impact zone it hurts like some normal bruise ... after all these friggin months O_o

well its not continuous(spelling?) swelling, it has stopped and its not very large but there is still a bump there..its been about 2-3 weeks..would it take longer for it to go down?

Hehehhe, dude don't ask me. I'm not a doc. I just posted because someone might help me out with the shiite

Did you apply pressure and cold to it when you injured it? That usually helps to significantly reduce swelling and it heals faster. A few weeks ago a bashed my shin while doing weighted box jumps. I was tired and ended up jumping right into the box with my right shin, scraping it and causing it to start to swell up very fast. By elevating it, and applying pressure and ice I slowed the swelling and it went away within a few days. Was still a little bruised and scraped but the swelling was gone and it didn't worsen at all.The problem with not reducing the swelling when it happens is that the blood forms under the skin and thickens, kind of like a scab but not quite so much. Yours maybe just a bad bruise, but I don't know for sure. If it is really hurting then you should go to the doctor about it and get it looked at. If it was a fracture you would have noticed it, but who knows, it may be worth taking a look at.
