Hey i read an article that said congress may cut student aid by $12.7 BILLION. Im sorry but in a time where everyone pushes education, how can you cut aid like that. Colleges cost so much money its hard for anyone to afford it. They are also trying to pass an increase of interest rates on stafford loans, by almost double. Way to kick a student in the ass, thanks alot George Bush
-
Student Aid may be cut!!!
-
lordie! Well lets hope and pray this never happens. There are a lot of students, myself included, that truly needs the aid.
-
Students to face heavier debt burden It won't decrease the amount of money available to loan, but it will increase interest rates, so you'll be paying more when you get out of school. If you don't like it, don't just complain here; contact your representative and senators. And remember this next time you vote.
-
Trust me i didnt vote for the douchbags in office. Everyone made fun of me when i said i wasnt, now they all agree with me. Funny how things work out
-
This is no good. We are being hit so hard for all the money that has been spent on all of our foreign interests. I love my country, but I hate this legislation, I did not vote to have our country get taken over by some idiots. This is very discouraging.
-
HummmmmPolitics are a difficult subject to talk about. I was always told growing up never to discuss religion and politics and you should be fine……My opinion is that the damn republicans in office keep cutting and / or capping funding. It’s time to get a woman in that office. Someone like, Lizzy Dole. Hilary can be Vice President. It's time to flush that asshole and get someone in there with some compassion and a brain!
-
I would definetely vote for Hilary. the problem in this country is to many people take sides, democrate, republican, independant, etc... You see i dont consider myself anything, i just vote for the best candidate. You cant blame all republicans, just liek you cant blame all democrate, and so on. You have to look at the individual. and in this case its bush, and his whole group of goons. Something needs to be done or China will be able to buy us out. What are we at 7 trillion in deficit now? probabbly more, its sad. You know i have a letter everyone should read, when i find it i will post it
-
Well i found it. Its ciruclating on the internet. Please read it.
WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR ANY U.S. PRESIDENT, DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH?
My Fellow Americans: As you all know, the defeat of Iraq regime has been completed.
Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete.
This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces from Iraq. This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now time to begin the reckoning.
Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short. The United Kingdom, Spain, Bulgaria, Australia, and Poland are some of the countries listed there.
The other list contains everyone not on the first list. Most of the world's nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening.
Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war.
The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world Hell-holes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.
Need help with a famine? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France. In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home. On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth.
Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France, or maybe China.I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France, Germany, and Russia. Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as well. Bon chance, mes amis.
I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this. You creeps have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets. Pay those tickets tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers and limos be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world. I love New York
A special note to our neighbors. Canada is on List 2 since we are likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not pissing us off for a change.
Mexico is also on List 2. President Fox and his entire corrupt government really need an attitude adjustment. I will have a couple extra tank and infantry divisions sitting around. Guess where I am going to put ?em? Yep, border security. So start doing something with your oil.
Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA treaty - starting now.
We are tired of the one-way highway. Immediately, we'll be drilling for oil in Alaska - which will take care of this country's oil needs for decades to come. If you're an environmentalist who opposes this decision, I refer you to List 2 above: pick a country and move there. They care.
It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by saying, "darn tootin."
Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in America. It is time to eliminate homelessness in America. It is time to eliminate World Cup Soccer from America.
To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thanks guys. We owe you and we won't forget.
To the nations on List 2, a final thought: You might want to learn to speak Arabic.
God bless America. Thank you and good night.
If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a soldier.(Please forward this to at least ten friends and see what happens! Let's get this to every USA computer!)

I wish Gore would have gone again in 2004, if he had people would have voted for him and we might not be in this finacial situation. I'm luck to have my college paid for, but most aren't. This is horrible. I'm not a democrat, or republican or indepedant . (more libertarian then anything due to the fact i dont want the government making person desicions for me) I vote Candidate. And Lately, There hasnt been any damned cadidate worth voting for.
-
It’s time to get a woman in that office. Someone like, Lizzy Dole. Hilary can be Vice President.Having a vagina doesn't necessarily temper someone's ideology. Elizabeth Dole is just a post-menopausal Bush. Have you checked her voting record? All is not well just because a black guy was appointed to the Supreme Court.
-
That piece of crap has been floating around since at least early 2003. Have you actually read it? It's just another feel-good flag waving thing.Stop wondering why so much of the world hates the American government, which is one big reason that our poorly-equipped soldiers are being blown up every day. The bullying and posturing in that fake speech pretty well nails it.Anyway, that has nothing to do with raising the priority of important domestic issues.
-
In reply to: Anyway, that has nothing to do with raising the priority of important domestic issues. Yes it does, because it saying to pull our troops out. Thus bringing them back here to worry about problems we have, such as illegals crossing the border. All these illegal immigrants are just making things worse. We're so damn worried about allowing people to come here, and then supporting their asses as if they are cripple. We have more important issues to worry about, like american born citizens who are povershed and cant afford things, LIKE SCHOOL. But hey i guess the gov feels its necessary to cut money from school aid, maybe we should put that 12.7 billion towards kissing other countries asses...since we seem to love doing that
-
I don't know whose asses were kissing, since everyone but the Kuwaitis, Israelis, and Poles hate our government (and I'm not sure about the Poles anymore). I don't think the U.S. has ever been more unpopular in Latin America than it is now.
If you didn't think it was a good idea to invade Iraq, why insult the countries that were opposed to the idea?
I don't think the federal government would start doling out money to your favorite causes if the war ended tomorrow. The issues are a lot bigger than the Iraq War and immigration.
-
And I guess Canada should bow down and follow every United States policy as if it were it's own. Canada has been with the United States on just about every major issue they've faced. They are by far our largest trading partner. We are one of the United States strongest allies, and when a war arises out of questionable reasons (weapons of mass destruction my ass), and we don't send troops based upon this, we're suddenly seen as not having any support for the US.Want to see something about how much aid the US gives for worldwide peacekeeping missions? Here's a sight with some interesting figures: http://www.un.org/Depts/dpko/dpko/contributors/2005/dec2005_2.pdfThe US, with almost 10x our population, contributed the same number of troops and military police/observers to UN peacekeeping as Canada. We didn't even contribute that largely either compared to many countries. Canada and the US each have 387 members while Bangladesh has 9529 members and Pakistan has 8999 members. Your article states that the United States is hated for trying to help the world. Their "peacekeeping" is all done in targetted areas with disregard for the real problems that are occuring in the rest of the world. Iraq posed no threat to the US and wasn't a significant terrorist training ground. The US attacked it and doesn't participate largely in worldwide peacekeeping considering that it has the world's most powerful military.
-
That's all well and good...but if you start messing with the World Cup, I'm gonna be pissed!
-
I dont agree with invading iraq at all. I think we never should have set foot there. It was a waste of money, time, and american lives. I dont agree 100% with the article, i just thought it was something interesting and i wanted to show you all. i know Canada is our allie. What im saying is that we like to give money to everyone and just ignore our own problems. We give so much money to Africa for the aid's epidemic. why not fund research worldwide to find a cure for aids. Do you have any idea how much money would could put towards research? how about more money towards the many health epidemics that face this country. We dont spend out money wisely. We throw it around like theres no tomorrow, yet it seems when theres something important that needs money within our own borders, our wonderful government ignores it or takes away money. Look at the healthcare that our seniors get. They work their whole lives and get money taken out ever paycheck, to grow old and have no money left. And now they pay roughly 8000 a month for healthcare, what happened to all that money they put away? o thats included in the national debt clock. Just think when we become seniors, there will be nothing left for us. This medicare part d program is a freakin joke. Our government needs to change, and fast
-
Whatever you may think our problems are, being over-generous with foreign aid is not one of them. The U.S. is among the least generous (per capita) industrialized nations in the world. To quote myself: "The U.S....gives less foreign aid per capita than any other developed country (something like 0.6% of GDP). And a lot of that aid has strings attached!"The United States budget process Wikipedia entry shows where the money went in the F.Y. 2005 budget. Most went to Social Security (although that's budgeted separately), National Defense (military), Welfare, Medicare, health, and interest on the debt. That is the lion's share of the budget. When the Medicare drug benefit is included, the Medicare number will grow. The choices are to cut the military, cut programs, grow the economy, or raise taxes. Growing the economy at a rate fast enough to cover the outlays is impossible, though. I guess some people are OK with cutting welfare and educational benefits. The situation we're in has a lot more to do with profound mismanagement by Congress and especially by the policymakers in the Executive Branch. People pouring over the borders and taking our foreign aid are small potatoes in the scheme of things.

And anything, little or big counts
-
Oh that's nice. That's why I'm going to Japan.
