(replying in general...not to Virtual)I think I'm seeing something here and I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing it. From time to time on this board, someone ends up in a position where they can't say anything right. No matter what they say, someone is waiting in the wings - hoping for the opportunity to pounce on them. Pouncing might look like calling names. Or it could be intentionally mischaracterizing (apparently not a real word) in an attempt to demonize someone. Or it could be nitpicking or whatever else. But in the end, however it's done, it's about deciding for whatever reason you don't like someone and insisting on responding from that dislike, with no regard for what the person is actually saying. I think that's happening to someone on this thread. He might as well pack it up and go home cause folks on here are more interested in beating him up than in having a discussion with him. And that's not to say he hasn't maybe said a stupid thing or two. We all do that. But do his snafu's really warrant that kind of treatment? That kind of gang-banging? Maybe I'm a little sensitive to this cause I've been in that position. But I'm wondering how this discussion would unfold if those folks here who no doubt think they're taking the high road would really look at what they're doing and the level of discourse they're insisting on , and maybe making a constructive adjustment or two.Or maybe it's just me...

erm.. Damien.. I will say your right.. we do have tendency as a board.. (I'm somehow doubt I'm an exception) to have a "band wagon" mentality time to time. Points where we feel angry and we feel we have some sort of justifed scape goat we can just obliterate.
However, with that being said... some situations are obviously far more emotional and obviously far easier to band wagon on.
-
So a good challenge for all of us is to be passionate without being mean.
-
lol I think that challenge comes with being human.
-
I understand what you're saying, Damien, and I agree. And since you said you're speaking in general I'll speak on my behalf. I don't think I was being mean. If it came off that way then I'm sorry but I honestly was passionate about what I was talking about. I wasn't trying to put him down in anyway nor did/do I have anything against him. But I had and still do have hard times. Scratch that, I have ISSUES with things like that and I don't take it lightly. It tears me apart emotionally. I know it might sound overdramatic but it's just the way I was raised. I know what it's like to be called that in the most.. hateful way and it deeply hurts. Like... it really hurts... ALOT lol. I don't think people really understand. Though they try but they don't.
So but anyway, I'm sorry to GrownPast... guy if I came off as mean and attacking. I just hope you actually understand what I'm getting at.

Dantek, when I started writing leelee89 was the last poster in a series that seemed to be becoming ad hominem, but my remarks weren't meant to be pointed at anyone specifically.
-
oh ok, see i thought of that but then looked at the time and it was a good twenty minutes between your post and virtual star's so i figured that might negate the "replying to the last poster but intending for all" but thank you for clearing that up

Why do u think that?

Obama rose up from nowhere. Hillary has the Clinton tag on her and thats what has made her famous. She wouldn't have been famous if it wasn't for Bill, and she probably wouldn't have ran for presidency to be quite honest. She says cheap things like, "Having a woman for a president would be change enough." If Barack said, "Having a black president would be change enough.", It would sound horrible for him and he would sound very very conceited. Barack wants to help people who are in need in our own country first. I believe that is morally right. My god given morality says to put people first before money. Everyone says well socialized health care would hut the economy. It would also benefit many people. Especially Barack's plan would. He also doesn't pull stunts to get votes such as crying or hugging a black kid or mexican kid wearing a sombrero in front of millions of viewers. He simply represents his ideals in his speech and caters to what he thinks are the majority of America's needs. I don't judge a candidate based on his or her ideals or policies alone, but his or her character as well. It can tell alot about the future. You shouldn't base your opinion on how the media will handle the president either. You should base it on how the president will handle America.that's my 2 cents.P.S. Yes, having a women president, whether you like it or not girls and boys, would greatly effect her relationship with the middle eastern region of the world. Some may event try to assassinate her.

Well, that's cause she's intelligent and dignified, unlike...y'know...
That's unfair Damien. I have listen to her speeches and not to mention her track record she's she a very intelligent and dignified woman.
This past weekend I actually went to a Clinton rally and watch President Clinton talk in person about Hillary's plans and than changes she wants to bring to the country, and I am excited! I like what she brings to the table. Plus to actually hear President Clinton talk in person is just amazing, I almost forgot how charismatic that man is!
I am not saying Obama is not smart and not a good candidate, but I have expressed my concerns over Obama in past threads. The lack of experience simply worries me. I think several years from now he'll be better rounded and more capable of doing the job. I personally don't think he's ready yet. Again just my personal Opinion.
And I will admit I have a selfish side to this election. I think out of the two candidates I would even consider (Clinton and Obama) Clinton is the only one that will do anything for the GLBT community. I just don't see Obama doing anything to help with equal rights, where Clinton has always stood behind the GLBT community and has fought for equal rights; she has even marched along side us in Pride Parades. So yes perhaps I have a little selfishness in my liking of Clinton, but I don't think I can be judged for that.
Anyways just my take.

Saying Hillary was basically nothing before Pres. Bill Clinton you are very wrong. She has been working in politics for the past (I believe) 30 years. Get your facts straight. Quote:Yes, having a women president, whether you like it or not girls and boys, would greatly effect her relationship with the middle eastern region of the world. Some may event try to assassinate her. That's a bunch of crap for the reasons already stated in this thread.

We obviously disagree on Hillary (and no one's surprised about that ), but I hardly think it's unfair to state an opinion that she's lacks in intelligence and dignity. You wanna rassle son?
