Never used one. But my understanding is you just fold then up and stick it up there. I guess.
I've never used one. Spermicides give me bladder infections. But I've used something called "instead" for my monthly bill. You pinch the thing together, slide it in and it sit behind your pubic bone over your cervix. You can't feel it. And you can have sex with it in so they seem pretty similar. Seem like a reasonable choice if you can deal with the spermicide and don’t mind dealing with it.
I believe what you had is a 'cervical cap'.
It wasn't birth control. It's called "instead" and it's a feminine hygiene product.
INSTEAD® Softcup® - used to hold back menstrual fluid. The site says: In reply to: The INSTEAD® Softcup® is worn internally, similar to a diaphragm, and not in the vaginal canal like a tampon. Because the cup is not in the vaginal canal often your partner will not even know it is there.PLEASE remember that the INSTEAD® Softcup® is not a contraceptive and cannot prevent pregnancy or sexually transmitted infections.
See I know what I'm puttin' in me. They, not the instead people, make reusable ones too, for the environmentally conscious.
