my girlfriend told me she had a sore in the back of her mouth the other day. she's never had a cold sore and neither have i. i've been with her for 6 months and known her for a few years. i looked and it was behind one of her molers. it looked like a small pimple. i've read stuff that said you can only get herpes OUTSIDE of your mouth. i've read stuff that says you can get it INSIDE, but rarely. it went away after about 4 or 5 days. is this just a canker sore, somekind of irritation, or is it herpes? the reason i ask is because she has been giving me unprotected oral sex since we started dating. i haven't had any simptoms on my penis but she did preform on me after her little sore, so i am a little concerned. since its gone, its not like a doctor can culture the virus anymore. help.

For one, cold sores are a form of herpes. However, just because someone has a cold sore does not mean they are infected with genital herpes. There are two different types of the herpes virus. Canker sores are not herpes. Which by the way, it sounds like your girlfriend just had a canker sore. It happens too many people. It is not known what causes canker sores, but it is a common thing so i dont believe you have anything to worry about.
