I've seen a couple of posts admitting that these protein milkshake supplements are crap and aren't worth the money. Is this so, or should I purchase it and preferably what brand?Oh, and on what basis. Thanks again.

All the protein shakes do is supply your body with protein after your workout to build muscle. I dont know if they work honestly, i guess you could try. All that other crap though is overrated. dont buy into that marketing stuff where it has more than just protein

Protein is in plentiful supply in many different food, chances are you get more than adiquate protein in your usual daily intake of eating and drinking, but its a good idea to get protein in you soon after a workout, dont know about you but after a workout im pretty hungry so that comes in your daily routine too!Id only say suppliments are worth considering if you are doing a massive amount of excercise like true athletes it'd make any real difference.

Personally, I'd be more interested in seeing a post on nutrition. Lately I've been trying to get my diet back on track a little more with less junk food and more vegetables, complex carbs, and overall balance. Of course, how muscles grow would be great too. Either way, I'd be interested in reading an update

Hey, it's been a while. Just moved out of home, and the place I'm currently staying at has no internet yet. On the metamucil though, what does that do? Does it help at all with the gas, and constant pooping that comes with protein shakes? Thanks.

I've been using weight gainer for about 3 months now....it helps very little...but this is only my view...i'm also now trying to find a supplement which would help me gain weight...

In order to gain weight you need to increase your calorie intake. I assume that you're working out so you'll also want more protein in your diet. All athletes need a higher calorie intake than non-athletes, but depending upon your goals and how many calories you burn during whatever you do (along with body size and a variety of other things) your caloric needs will vary. This also applies to protein in specific, where athletes need extra protein to repair their muscles; 1.2-1.8 grams per kilogram of bodyweight is a good measure depending upon whether your an endurance athlete or you do an activity that is really hard on your muscles and requires lots of recovery such as weightlifting. 0.8g per kilogram is a better estimate for an inactive person. My point is that a weight gainers formula provides extra calories needed for gaining weight and usually provides extra protein and other nutrients. You need to eat more regular food and the use of a weight gainers formula supplements that. Without exercise, or without a good diet to go with it, you probably won't see the results you want. Not only that, but many people don't put on weight quickly no matter how much they eat. I'm usually consuming over 3000 calories a day, although I'm not sure how much more since I haven't taken the time to see just how much I eat. I do a lot of other activity that burns calories and although I'm not super skinny, I don't naturally put on a lot of weight. You need to find what works for you, and supplements are just what the name implies; something to supplement other foods in your diet, not substitute them.
