Okay what do yall think I should do with my Jeep.It has an AMC 360 going into it. It sits on 32's with a 3" lift. I am going to do a rear axle swap and most likely going to have to do the front to match lug patterns. I am also looking to up the amount of suspension lift. I am so unsure of how much to do. SO if you guy could give suggestions. 1 restriction, the lift must be greater than 4.5 but less than 11 inches. Also what size tire should I run with it. Here is an example, that is a buddy of mines Jeep. He is in the Mid-West. That is 9" with 36 inch tires.

OKay I know you guys do not know too much about...
-
Um... how about you paint it red? Doesn't that make it faster?!That link doesn't work for me so I don't really know what your jeep looks like. I wouldn't really have any idea how high a jeep should sit.
-
okay here is the link again...remember this is my buddies jeep on 9" of lift with 36" sumper swamper tires. web page
-
Wow. That looks pretty fun. I'd say if you are going to be doing that kind of stuff keep your lift high enough to avoid the wheels hitting the archs, but low enough to keep your centre of gravtiy lower to the ground.
-
Hmmm I would add a step for a lady to get in. I remember this guy came to pick me up with a huge ass truck and i was scared to get in!
-
I would, but rocks like to tear things like that off. So how many inches? No one has given any inches of lift and tire sizes yet.

Riddle me this, why would you want to do this?Jeeps are unstable to begin with, they roll really easy, trust me on this my uncle has made a few million sueing jeep based on that fact and jeep doesnt even deny that its true.secondly you live in California. I dont knwo exactly where but I know ther is not alot of 4 wheel drive areas pending what part you live in. northern around redding there is some wheeling to be done I know that but it seems to me your closer to the bay area right? My step sister lives in Pacifica, I dont recall alot of terrain where this would gfive you any advantage around there but I admit I do not know the area really well so I could be wrong.the bigger tires and more resistance not to mention mor power and tourqe to start and keep moving means more gas and oil. With where you live I would think you would be more interested in speed then a high set with low end tourqe. If this all applys to you and you still want to go thru with it then the first thing is to contact the state and find out the regulations and laws. Maybe you already did since you stated nomore then 11". I Do know that there are rules about how far past fenders the tires can stick out (sideways) and there is a max lift. If you really want it then consier the suspension lift since a body lift really doesnt make alot of difference performance wise to lift the body and leave the rest of the chassi sitting low with no extra clearance. The tires make the most differenc since they will raisef the axle with the truck.also know that bigger tires mean a worse ride, I lifted a truck I had in the past and it beat the shit out of you on the hiway, you do not want to knwo what it did when I was off road. If your going to do any serious offroading consider a winch and a light bar before lifting everything, they made a bigger difference on my bronco as far as performance and getting my ass out of bad places then the lifts did. Also look into detroit lockers, with out that you really only have 3 wheel drive not 4 since a positrac transfers power to the non slipping wheel. it makes cornering even shittier but it was worth it when I was climbing hills and digging out of mud.as to what lift, remember that the tires you can fit and not have to worry about scraping the wheel wells on them determine how much lift you will have to put into it to give the proper clearances.

Yeah.. I tend to feel like im gonna tip my jeep whenever i just go up an onramp
-
I am way ahead of you on that one. I have the right backspacing, fender wells are cut to fit the tires even when the suspension is flexed. I am going to take this with me to Indiana, but I am doing this b/c I enjoy it. THe Cherokee leaf springs and coils are among the softest made they are a very nice ride. Depends on the tires you get. I have had mud terrains you can feel the lugs, and I loved it.Anywho I am fully commited to this and this has been my hobby. I am going to get my hands on a welder and I am going to fab everything up myself...after some practice.
-
ah roll overs. If I do I am going to make my jeep into a chop top.
-
I dunno what that is.. my top is chopped off!! and the doors too!
-
ah you have a wrangler...that is a body on frame so if you roll just fab up a new body. The cherokee is a unibody (frame and body are 1 piece) and if I roll I have to cut the bad parts off and make a cutom cage for it.

If your really that commited then look into the state laws since its not just a fuck around car but is driven on pubic roads you have to stay with in those standards. alot of places will rent welders by the day, iv rented one a few times its too unreasonable a rate if you get all your shit ready to do like over a weekend but if you cant complete it i teh much time you can normally buy one for around 100 bucks.the 100 specials you have to watch though, ook at the ratio listed.I bought one with out knowing what I was doing and I coud weld for about 10 minutes but it then had to cool down for 40 minutes (may not be exact figures but it was something like that) fI fsold the bastard on Ebay and went back to renting. You know much about weldig?got to watch that shit too like what stick to use (arc) and the limites of a MIG or TIG welder. If you can swing it, a welder that runs on 220 v is a much better investment then a 110 v that wil transfform the voltage up to allow similar welding tothe 220 v.Most people do not havea 220 v set up in the garage, but if its a house where you can run a new line from a new breaker (80 to 100 Amp 2 leg service ) you will get a much better job then the smaller unit.I like to stay with Lincoln or atleast a Miller, I do not have alot of experience welding with differnt brands but of th 5 or 6 I have used those two have been the best for me.Good luck in it all
-
well if I am to get a welder it will be a lincoln with and Argon tank. Most likely MIG. A mig welder is pretty much what i need. I mean I will be welding brackets and some spot welding too.
-
what's the appeal in a vehicle like that?
-
I am not sure, but it grows on me everday.

A TJ?
