Anxiety problems are a great burden, and if the treatment works it will be a big help to you.Suicides from antidepressants is an area that needs more study. People who are very badly depressed often want to kill themselves, but don't because it's too difficult in their severely depressed state. When antidepressants start working, they can lift these people enough to be able to commit suicide, before their spirits are lifted enough not to want to. This may or may not be the reason for all the suicides seen in the early stages of antidepressant treatment - it's far from clear.

I agree with Helms. If you got your diagnosis and perscription from an MD, I would definitely encourage you to go to a psychologist or psychiatrist to have it confirmed. MD's don't have much (if any) training in psychopathology or psychopharmocology. Most knowledge they have in these areas come from the drug companies.
