Hi there, I am a 20 year old male who has had a few sexual partners since I turned 16. I suffer from panic disorders and am generally a stressy nervous person, although I am very confident on the outside!my first few partners while I was pretty much experiementing I blew hot and cold with and sometimes couldnt get a hard-on during foreplay which led to embarressing situations at times.Nowadays I am with a partner I am very comfortable with and I can keep a great hard on during foreplay, but during sex I lose my hard -on quite quickly. I am of an average sized maybe slightly above average penis she is quite experienced so she is not particuarly tight( excuse the crude terms) so I wondered if lack of stimulation could cause it.I also cannot use a condom for this reason, and the act of putting it on would make me lose a hard on instantly so protection is out of the question.I have bought products such as ginkgo biloba and ginseng which are said to mildly help, but now I have bought stronger things such as horny goat weed and yohimbine.I am even considering asking the doctor about Viagra, does anyone know what works best for this condition. as its not a physical prpoblem, because I can get a hard on just fine during foreplay and other times.Thanks-Rob

Hi Rob_b66, and welcome to A2A. I think your difficulties are related to your tendency to anxiety. It's easy to worry about sexual performance, and those worries have a "softening" effect.I think you should talk to your doctor. It may be that some anxiety medication may help; or perhaps Viagra just enough so you realise you really can do it and you don't need to worry about it. I wonder even whether hypnotherapy might be a useful non-drug method.

Ok thanks for the reply, Im going to try a few things first and then if none work Ill have to go doctors :-) My dad has peryones disease so it's easy for me to talk to him about this sort of thing.Anyone got any other ideas too :-)Thanks-Rob

Sounds to me like it's in your head and not below your waist. Anxiety will do bad things to you. Peyronies Disease is a nasty problem. It occurs in 1% of men over 50. It occurs in other fascia too but has another name there.

I am 19, and I think I have the same problem. When I'm with a girl right before sex I think its going to be great, but once we start it goes down hill from there...fast. I have tried the herbal stuff but it doesn't do anything at all(seriously). The more times I try the worse it gets. But sometimes it works great and it did for a good 1 & 1/2 hours ONCE. But like I said about 80% of the time I just stop and pretend I am "Finished", because I cannot continue (Very emberassed at this point). I cannot change positions or anything cause it will go down almost immediately. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with anxiety but I am scared to try Viagra because of all the horror stories people have with not being able to get rid of their erection (wish I had that problem sometimes) and possibly permanent damages. Even then, will a doctor even prescribe a 19yr old viagra? Sorry for the long post.

A doctor could prescribe a 19 year old Viagra, but it does have potential side-effects, so he might try anti-anxiety medication first.
