This may sound strange as the majority of posts in this section are of people wanting to LOSE weight. However, I feel I am TOO thin. I actually WANT to put on weight. The thing is.. I dont think I can?? It's not like I eat nothing. I eat a lot. Im 15 and I have very skinny wrists, you can also see my ribs through my skin. I just wanted to know, what foods shall I eat and if I work out (Work on my abdominals) Will I get a "6-pack" eventually and not look as skinny? Thanks.

There are 2 ways of gaining weighti) Eat Moreii) Work OutWork out how many calories you eat on an average day, then try to add an aditional 500-1000 calories a day to your diet.Muscle weights more than fat and looks good too so it may be worth considering going to the gym and doing some weights.Or ideally do both, you'll have to eat even more to compensate for calories burnt but you will within a few months put some real weight or more relevantly body mass onto you.

No, it's not strange at all. Many skinny people find that they want to put on a little bit of weight. The best way to put on some weight, aside from increasing the number of calories in your diet, is to work out. You want to do an activity that stimulates muscle growth. There are many activities that will work your muscles and may give you some growth: activities that work your muscles rigorously and leave them feeling sore afterwards. The best way to build muscle is to do weighted exercises. I'm not sure how familiar you are with weightlifting, but you want to work on doing full body workouts. Squats are the best exercises you can do for your entire body. There are many other posts on building muscles and gaining weight that will explain in great detail what you're looking for.

I eat a HELL of a lot, and work out to (weights) yet I don't put on weight, even when I don't work out. Hell I even lost weight not that long ago, and after 6 months of working out I've barely gained any muscle which is probably due to me being so skinny. God it sucks

How is your diet? Do you work out regularily, but still give yourself enough rest during the week? These are important questions because they make a huge difference to the results you'll see.

Key things to make sure you're doing to gain weight. When you're lifting weights, make sure you max out everytime. This means if your work out is 3 sets of 10, and you reach 10reps in a set, and could still do more, you keep going. Keep pushing till you physically cannot complete the next rep.Mix your workouts up. Do 3 sets of 10 one week, then work up to 4 sets of 5 the next week. Try doing reps of 10, then as soon as you can't go on grab the next weight down and do as many more as you can with that. Try different workouts too, for example; incline, flat and decline bench press.Less reps are generally better if you want to gain mass. Aim to max out on your fifth or sixth rep, unless of course you're mixing it up.Eat eggs, meat, cheese, yogurt and drink milk. Protein shakes are cool and all, but I personally always make sure I have a high protein meal for dinner after a workout.Eat often. If you're hungry; eat. Doesn't matter what, just keep yourself full.Do squats! Do them properly; your thighs should be parallel to the floor.I promise you if you eat a high protein and carb diet, do squats, and max out at the gym you will gain weight. If you wake up the next day and your muscles aren't hurting, you wasted your time.
