Did anyone else hear about that boy who called the police because his mom was passedout/dead on the floor, and the operater/dispatch lady thought he was pulling a prank and didn't send anyone out for him, and his mom ended up dying. a cop didnt even come until 3 hours later.

The cops didnt come...
-
christ thats terrible!
-
What pisses me off is that the 911 dispatcher who was so rude to the poor kid only got a verbal reprimand for her actions.I hope the family wins a gargantuan lawsuit.
-
that poor little boy... sitting with his dead mom.that just kills me, ya know
-
that is awful...poor young man.
-
I know. the whole thing is absolutely awful. i saw the video of it it on msn videos... poor kid. I hope they do win a huge lawsuit, and the dispatcher gets fired.
-
I'm hoping that with enough public outrage she will be fired. Here's what gets me. We've all seen numerous stories on young children who have somehow had the presence of mind to call 911 and often saved someone's life. How is it that she automatically jumped to the conclusion that this was a prank? His tone of voice? I don't get it.Have the complete transcripts from that call been made public anywhere? I've only seen snippets.
-
While I totally agree that the dispatcher should be in more trouble than I can imagine. why is it you jump to a lawsuit and money to solve the problem? The kid does not need money, he needs someone to be there with him now. Money will make the issue worse.
-
the msn video i watched only had two snippets.
-
maybe they cant afford a funeral.
-
this is true, I just never understood. That lawsuit has affects on a lot of things. That will take money out of the police budget and what tax payers pay to have police. I agree that there should be some sort of compensation, I just do not see how a multi million dollar suit is beneficial in the long run.
-
eh, we dont know how much the lawsuit is for. i just think its crazy that the lady thought he was pulling a prank saying "my moms passed out on the floor"
-
Yeah, just lets limit how much b/c pain does not equal money. There Money is not directly propportional to pain...Just I mean...yeah
-
Nobody said anything about millions.Although dying is expensive. And now there's a little boy who's been robbed of his mommy. Raising little boys is expensive. And in situations like this, it's not just about what the family needs. It's about what the dispatcher did. There needs to be repercussions and it needs to be major. If she were fired and there were at least some sort of minor charges brought agains her, I would think that would be enough. (Well, that and the cost of funeral, burial, etc.) However, neither of those things have happened, so there needs to be some repurcussions. They can't just do crap like that and get away with it.As for the payoff, it most likely wouldn't effect the police budget or any other important expenditure as it would most likely come from insurance money.
-
yeah okay, then yeah....
-
911 operators are fucking stupid. I don't even think you need a college degree or even a damn high school diploma to be one. They're basicly fat ladies on welfare. They should use real emergency professionals instead. I wonder how long till they outsource 911 operator jobs to India anyways.
-
Only in America.
-
What pisses me off is that the 911 dispatcher who was so rude to the poor kid only got a verbal reprimand for her actions.I hope the family wins a gargantuan lawsuit. I 100% agree!! Sorry but there person should have been fired and banned from working in any position like that again. I was shocked when I heard about this on the news. I mean come on, even if you think someone is pranking, still send someone out.
-
Zactly.I think it's kind of the same principle I try to operate by on this site.Is it a kid who is really that naive asking a strange question cause he needs help and information? Or is it just a troll yanking our collective chain?I think it's best to assume the former. Otherwise, someone honestly seeking help may not get it.And white, fat ladies on welfare don't have jobs. If they did, they wouldn't be on welfare. Although you might possibly be right about the lack of education required to be a dispatcher. That would be an interesting thing for someone to find out.

They have that welfare-to-work program or the other way around. Either way, welfare is bullshit, why should I have to pay for someone's life because they never bothered making anything of themselves to be able to be self-sufficient?
