Has anyone else noticed the growing movement within young people to become absolute pru's? It makes sense, as a reaction to the of the hedonism and excess that has been orchestrated by our parents generation and continues to be shouted at us to this day. Many of us moan about the excess of sex in the emdia and the like but an increasing number of young people are rebelling against it. Suddenly virginity, prudence, and religeon has become rebellion. We're seeing an increase in christian groups, of pro-virgintiy groups, and groups that to our parents must seem from 1950ish. These groups are dominated by young people now. Clearly this hasnt taken hold of our media yet, but do you think it could do within the next 20 years or so as our young people grow up and take hold of the situation? Seems to me like a pretty natural cultural trend to me. The hedonistic "gin and prostitution" culture of the 18th century gave way to the stiff upper lip of the 19th century, and then swung back to sex, drugs and rock and roll. I know an increasinjg number of guys who've come out saying porn is wrong! Kids now often revel in being a member of a religeon! Far Right-wing organisations all over Europe are finding themselves awash with fresh, young volenteers the likes of which they havnt experienced since the 1970's anti-immigrant frenzy. What constitutes rebellion has changed dramatically. More importantly, if this is true, is it a good thing? Are we ready for a change? The pendulem swings much faster than it did in previous centuries.

Reactionary Pru Generation

From my own experiences, I haven't noticed anything. Most of the teenagers and young adults prefer to be atheist and sexually liberated. But, I also sure that someday christian organizations will gather again many young people and our future kids will react quite against the hippie culture and ideals of our past...
In my own opinion, I really can't find the reason to belong in a "group" like this. Joining these groups, you'll probably become a member of a mass and you'll sacrifice some of your ideas and aspects to your group (it's quite the same with the political parties). So, anyone has to be strong to have his own ideals and aspects and he needs to be open to new ideas!
Finally, I believe in God, but I sure have missed hippies! I prefer to follow some of their way of life! -
i havnt really noticed it either...but at the same time i feel that our generation doesnt really care too much about change, less people have opinions..they would rather stay at home watching mind numbingly stupid tv programs etc than be able to be passionate about something. i havnt seen that many people my age wanting to go to church more etc...i certainly dont! ive seen more people questioning faith etc and becoming agnostic or athiest or whatever. as for sex, i dont know, its still a taboo in many ways but i dont see people lining up to join a pro virginity club..its defantly not like the 'free love' era though.

ive kinda noticed...my sisters a total prude. she needs 2 lighten up

I knew some people that I used to work with that were part of anti-lose virginity thing. They claimed to be christians that were waiting till marraige. These people were the most pathetic group of losers that ive ever encountered. In fact they were vigins only because they couldnt get laid. These people were all over 18. My employment came to an abrupt end when I put one of the losers in the hospital for asking me if I found my daughter sexually attractive.

nope neither have i, and ninja good job you shouldve done more,as for me im not anything i actually hate religion think its one of the worst ideas in history well atleast the way alot of people take it,i will never be pro virgin
-
You can take that cycle back a bit further - the 18th century culture was a reaction against the 17th century puritans, themselves a reaction against the 16th century.

yes.

i agree with ur religon comment, not that im trying 2 piss off the christians.it just seems 2 lead 2 al sorts of shit and wars. ppl seem 2 like 2 blow eachother up cuz they belive differently ...thats sick. im not religious even tho ppl presume i am cuz i have certain belifes, which, i desided on my own, my parents r lapsed christains, and we dont talk heaps so these moral gidelines for my life r all my own....have morals and a conscience r a good thingi think it CAN b a good thing in sum ways. it give ppl peice of mind about what happens when they die, it USUALLY helps ppl make good choices and give ppl hope in bad times.its just not my thing...especially since one of my christian friends made a bitchy comment about how im a bad person basically cuz im bound 2 have sex b4 marrage ( implying im a slut) ...bitch.i could go on 4 ever bout this, but tis time 4 me 2 shut up b4 i offend more ppl.lol

Christians arent so bad really. At least there generally not violent. I reckon they will be getting more militant in the years to come however, as religeous ervour is really taking off in some parts (not so much in Britain I'm glad to say), in reaction to muslim violence. Shall be a cycle of death.

Side Effect of too much freedom!!

Well the nation of Israel and with it near half the worlds Jews has been in a state of near constant conflict of one form or another for most of its existance. You could argue that its an ethnic more than religeous conflict, though some would disagree. There is of course a good number of violent Muslims in the world...the list of conflicts waged in Islams name is pretty large, probably more than any other religeon, though doesnt involve a proportion of the world's Muslims equal to the proportion of world Jews involved in conflict, so I dont feel safe in saying one is more violent than the other.I wouldnt pretend christians miss out however (it should be noted we dont hear about them as much). In Somalia christians and muslims are having a civil war, muslims were their longer so you could argue that the muslims are in the right there...or at least closer to being in the right. In Nigeria, a largely devout christian country, their have been conflict between christians and muslims in the more rural areas where the government cant keep control. Also the Philinpines is ruled by the christian majority and has been accused of oppressing their large muslim minority and their is now much violence their between the two religeons, I dont know who started it though. Oh and lets not forget sectarian violence in northern Ireland. If one just added up the religeon in whose name most conflicts were being waged, one would get Islam, but...I will add that its hard to tell when a conflict is more religeous or ethnic based...sometimes the religeon of the peoples involved can be incidentle, though subsequently exploited. Chechnya, for example, I am told is more of an ethnic conflict, but the Chechnyans have grasped on to Islam as a way of giving an extra slant to their cause. So can you use that as an example of violent muslims? Or is it an example of violent Chechnyans who happen to be Muslim? Its hard to say. But another question...does it matter which religeon is most violent or what people kill people for? Setting bombs off in schools...if their doing it in the name of any god or a nation it doenst really matter, they should stop.

I have noticed a bit of this with the "maintain virginity" groups and the "not me, not now" message in advertising.I have no objection to young people developing moral codes. Now if sex (pre and post marital) becomes unacceptable, or god forbid, illegal... then we have an issue 'caus dammit I'm neither remarrying nor becomming selebate

"i think it CAN b a good thing in sum ways. it give ppl peice of mind about what happens when they die, it USUALLY helps ppl make good choices and give ppl hope in bad times."
well ya but, when someone else challenges said beliefs they defend it fiercely, with bombs and guns and other nasty things
