I don't class smoking as an addictive drug. But that's my personal view. I enjoy a good cigarette, after sex, a meal; with a cup of coffee/tea, when I'm out taking the dog for a walk; and last thing at night, just before I go to bed. If I can't sleep, I may light up, but not all the time.

Smoking is not a drug
-
Well lots of people try to give up smoking, and find it hard.
-
Trust me, cigarettes are addictive. Not just my opinion, it's been proven.
-
I dont think your qualified to decide what is and isnt a drug.

Smoking is the worst thing that I have ever tried. My lungs are sore, I weaze at night, and have increased alot since a couple years ago. I have tried numerous times to quit with patches, cols turkey, Zyban and the gum. All failed. Cigarettes are highly addictive to 99% of people. It sneeks up on you and once it gets hold, your fucked. Although the government pretends to want you to stop. At least here in Canada, it is banned almost everywere. There are more addictive chemicals in them now than ever before. If the fucking government really wanted to lose billians a year, they would impliment a law not allowing these extra ingrediants in tobacco. Yes once again, blaim the government, not the tobacco companies. They dont need rules.

To me it's addictive-very addictive. I wish I could give up but have failed each time. I will keep trying but I may just give up giving up!!

Smoking isn't a drug. The nicotine in the cigarettes is what is addicting.Dictonary definition of nicotine: "A colorless, poisonous alkaloid, C10H14N2, derived from the tobacco plant and used as an insecticide. It is the substance in tobacco to which smokers can become addicted." what makes nicotine addictive tips to help quit

Fuck cigs, I used to smoke them to look cool when I was in 8th and 9th grade, quit 2 years ago. NowI can't stand the smell. Smoke a spliff, it smells better, tastes better, and makes you feel better.
-
At least they are not all bad :scream_cat: I wonder who uses more chemicles and filler crap USA or Canada, since the US and Mexico's stink more like cigars. I think we do.
-
I never wanted to smoke and never had. My family members did/do and I swore I would never do that. It smells gross and makes your clothes smell and makes tar stains on things. And can turn your fingers orangey/brown.
Plus they cost crazy amounts of money.

I gave up smoking a little after new year's 2006 and have never felt better than these past 5 months or so. It was VERY difficult, I had smoked cigs 20 years, and had graduated to Camel Non Filters for the past 4 of those years. Now I'm working out, running stairs on the weekends, jumping rope, etc. I love it, and I've always been the "anti-exercise" person!! Now I'm looking forward to many years of healthy living, no more hacking!!!

Thank you Wally,And what you said about spot training is SO true:It's better to work out the whole body, and focus on diet for eliminating fat from certain areas. I have not lost weight, but I feel so much better just working out, I got one of those swiss balls, and here's my routine:Hand stand push-ups using the ball to lauch my lower body into the air, and to catch me (starting from a pushup position with chest on ball, roll forward and arch my back into scorpion tail, use arm strength to push my body straight up into the air, and land before ball rolls away.)Ninja shoulder rolls throwing my legs over my pelvis as my shoulder lands on the ball (even harder with NO hands!)Hand stand, falling BACKWARD into the ball, landing on feetJump up and touch toes in air, knees locked at peak of flight, landing with buttisimo on ball (and I weigh 200 lbs., no pop yet!)Monkey rolls side to side for obliques, using hands this timePushup position with feet propped on the ball, bend knees to chest while slightly bending elbows bringing the ball in to chest, then back out. (lower abs)Backflips, or actually back hand-springs (great for many things)meditate sitting indian style on ball (very difficult)

not only is it a drug, but its grose and a huge turn off 4 me. i could neva date a smoker. that shit stinks, i cant stand 2 b around it. smokers get all wrinkly and yellow coloured and their skin is dull and they smell like it all the time their breath is grose...its just all bad...very very bad.
ive been hassled countless time 2 smoke by many ppl and neva said yes. i cant stand 2 b in the room with sum1 smokeing, let alone put that shit in my mouth and inhale it into my body. thats grose.
watching a grandparent slowly get sick and eventually die over ur life time from smokeing kinda puts u off it. -
No its not a drug.
-
ur wrong, just cuz its legal, dosnt mean its not a drug. technically anything that alters ur state of mind /body etc is a drug. caffene is a drug
-
Techinically it does not go in the "Drug" categorie like Marijuana such and such.
I know what you mean though, that it is addictive i tried smokeing once hated it.
-
Of course it's a bloody drug, and quite frankly, anyone who says it's not is an idiot. Nicotine is classed as a drug, the same way paracetomol, asprin, caffeine, alcohol and any other legal substances are. Just because it doesn't come under the extremely generic Class A/B/C drugs doesn't go to say it isn't. I've just given up smoking, been 12 days now, at first it is hard, but you just got to bite your lip and get through it. Now it's pretty easy, i get cravings every now and again but they're not strong enough to make me want one. Giving up for the win!
-
Of course you're not addicted. You only smoke when you wake up, smoke after you have a coffee, smoke after you have a meal, smoke when you have some tea, smoke when you walk the dog, smoke after sex, smoke before going to bed, smoke if you can't sleep...Yes folks, that's just about all bloody day long as far as I'm concerned. You're addicted, and you're in denial.Good luck kicking your habit. You know what they say about cigarettes... "A fire on one end, and a fool on the other..."

I think smoking is definitely a drug, it increases your heart rate just for a start, i can't be bothered to list all the other stuff that could make it a drug. I'm addicted to nicotine, but despite all of the bad points I just can't bring myself to stop right now. I've managed to not smoke for months at a time, but then when I see my friends smoking, or if I go into a pub I just start thinking, I want a cigarette and can't get it out of my head for long, it's so annoying! I normally have a couple a day, but it's more if I'm drinking.I planned on giving up when I left school and went to make new friends at uni, but I just carried on. I keep thinking 'this is the last packet of cigs i will ever buy, I'm going to stop after this pack', but then I just find myself buying another one without thinking. It doesn't help when you have friends who don't have any faith that you can do it. ok, after i've finished this packet, i'm going to post a topic, and tell you guys and maybe that will help.
