I was always a very slim person, but when I was pregnant, I somehow managed to put on close to 90 lbs. My daughter turned 2 last month, and I'm still carrying that last 10-15 lbs. I'll be honest and say that I haven't done much to get rid of it, but the holidays are fast approaching, and I'd love to drop a few, and tone up my bum, hips and legs. The only thing is I am a single mother, living alone with my daughter, so going to the gym is kinda out of the question for me. Any tips?

hehe you knew i couldn't resist...well i'd recommend atkins to take the weight off... www.atkinscenter.comits a great diet, keeps your blood sugar nice and stable and you don't get hungry and the pounds just drop off. you start off the first 2 weeks in induction where you limit your carb intake to 20 grams a day. after this first phase of the diet you begin to slowly increase amounts and types of carbs. if atkins is not your thing, check out The Zone diet (great diet, very balanced) or the South Beach diet (more mediterranean style, lots of olive oil and fish)and you should include exercise several times a week. (preferably a mix of moderate cardio and some weights) to increase lean muscle and decrease fat.

Thanks Helmsman for the welcome back! Sexpert69, about this Atkins diet, I've heard a lot of success stories, but here's my problem. I love Carbs. Pasta, rice and bread. I practically live off of them. Is there any hope for me? I'm definatley willing to give it a shot, so I guess I'm asking what can I eat if I can't eat my faves?

well i can tell you that when you go on the diet, because you limit your carbs and go into ketosis you lose a lot of the cravings for them. i rarely want them, and i'm at the point now that if i want them, i can bend the rules a little. there are also low carb breads and pastas, and if you like spaghetti, you could eat spaghetti squash instead... lots of ways to substitute your favorite foods. there is also a "Carb Counter" bread that just got put out at grocery stores. even though you have to give up those foods, remember you get to be more indulgent with the rich foods... when i first went on the diet, i ate cheesecake (sugar free of course) every day for breakfast. yum!
