So, I quit chewing on my fingernails (and the skin around them) about a week and a half ago. They are all doing great, except for my wedding ring finger's nail's left side... Which is swollen and red and painful. It's now turning purple, which I take as a sign of it getting worse, and I don't know what I should do with it... There's no puss, so I can't poke it open with a needle (actually, I've already tried that, nothing came out). It's an infection, but I have no idea how to get rid of it.

It's now turning purple

See a doc right away, some infections can spread to the point of amputation if not looked after soon enouph.
-
i had two infected toes about two or three years ago,and when my mom took me to the docs,he said that certain infections cause blood poisioning which people die from.so yeah,go to the docs.

In the meantime put peroxide on it. It'll help kill the bacteria.
-
Peroxide wont help an inner infection. Only antibitics.

Good point. Just read the post wrong I guess.
