My friend swears if you're going to have sex and not be on the Pill, the best time is right before you're period. I think that's when you're most fertile, so you should wait a few days after you're done that month. She had sex without the Pill afterwards, when I thought you should, and didn't end up pregnant, but she still swears it's better before you're period. What do you think?

Before or After?

Fertility generally comes before your period. However, since you can't know exactly when ovulation occurs, unprotected sex at any time is risky if you're trying to avoid pregnancy.

As readytogo said, there is no safe time to have unprotected sex. Women can ovulate at different times of the month. Periods can be unpredictable. Always use proctection.

Yes, your friend is correct. If you are using the rhythm method, the best time to have unprotected sex is before the menstrual flow. However, as Amanda said, the cycle, especially in younger women, can be totally unpredictable. Unless you are willing to risk pregnancy, this method is absolutly the worst.Fertility Chart Fertility Info

No no no. I'm not talking about this like I'm having unprotected sex. I'm actually a virgin and not considering sex until I've been on the Pill and regular from that and using a condom.I'm just asking to settle an argument.
