I'm not talking about the UN!! Peace Keeping!! I "think" Lester B Pearson invented the peace keeping and thus he got the noble peace price!

North Korea Missle Launch

Americans also invented sex, but the North Koreans invented nuclear power. And Jesus was born in Canada. Jesus invented peace keeping.

Americans are also afraid of Baking Soda in their mail Classic Canadian Joke 1997

Above all, a major instrument had been added to the UN’s global operations, one for which Canada, today, deserves a large portion of the credit.OK, fair enough, they get a large portion of the credit, as the Canadian Web site says. It also says that the UN's peacekeeping forces have had great success.
-
In reply to:North Koreans invented nuclear powerWhile that may not be true, Canada invented the safest and most modern nuclear reactor, the CANDU reactor.
-
Who invented peace keeping?
-
They've had problems lately (in Bosnia and so on), but they really have done some good. They helped keep the Greeks and the Turks on Cyprus from finishing each other off on Cyprus. They have had trouble keeping the peace in Africa.
-
And you say they haven't? I know this comment sounds nieve, considering the numerous flaws that can be pointed out over the course of the UN's existence, but overall they have been one of the most successful international cooperative peacekeeping forces I know of. Their operations are generally successful (I'm not going to search up and example unless you really want me to). By contrast, the cooperation of the UK and US turned out real well in Iraq with the widespread economic/political stability and control their coalition have brought to the country.
-
No, I agree with you. Oneteen has a different point of view, though.

In reply to: And Jesus was born in Canada well, we know Jesus wasn't born in Cabridge Ontario because they couldn't find 3 wise men or a virgin.

Well can't you say that the use of the atom bomb saved millions of american and japanese lives because it stopped an invasion of mainland Japan?
-
Well can't you say that the use of the atom bomb saved millions of american and japanese lives because it stopped an invasion of mainland Japan? That may be very clear to you, but historians are still arguing about it. There is certainly a lot of controversy about dropping the second bomb. Some argue that the blockades would have made Japan cave, at a smaller loss of life than what resulted from dropping the bombs. There was also serious talk about using tactical nuclear weapons during the Vietnam war. It's a fact, though. The US is concerned about governments they don't like having nuclear weapons, but the US is the only nation (or entity) in history that has actually ever used them. I'm not sure why the world should think that it's any safer for the US to have them compared to any other country. (The US does have a history of aggressive unilateral military action, after all.)
-
So, that was, like, sarcasm or something?
-
The U.S. has nukes because it doesn't matter how many times the U.N. or any other organization may disarm a country a terrorist organization may get a bomb. And if that happends well we're gonna be more prepared then we would if we didn't have anything.
-
If terrorists attack the US, who are we going to drop a nuclear bomb on? France?Would there have been any point of dropping a nuclear bomb on Afghanistan after 9/11? Or Iraq, which wasn't even involved? The US's having nuclear weapons serves as a deterrent to China (and much less so these days, a deterrent to Russia).
-
nuke the countries who we know support terrorists
-
And which countries would that be? Terrorist organizations are not usually attached to any particular country, any more than individual terrorists are.Should the U.S. have nuked Afghanistan? Are Moslem and Arab lives just not that valuable?Saudi Arabia supports terrorism. Should we nuke them? No, because we need their oil, and the Bush family has close personal relationships (with the likes of Bandar "Bush", also known as Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz al-Saud) with their ruling family.Anyway, but the time the US gets nuked, the people who are responsible will disappear into the mountains somewhere long before the US can figure out who they want to strike, just like Osama bin Laden did (does anyone remember him?)Al Qaida was allegedly planning to release cyanide gas in the NYC subway system, but Ayman al-Zawahri supposedly called it off a few weeks before they were going to do it. Everything al Qaida does is calculated for political effect. If they called it off, it's not likely because they didn't think they could pull it off. But if it had been a small nuclear device, and it did go off, who would the U.S. bomb?
-
That reminds me of the body's immune response. It wouldn't do much good if your body blew itself up every time you got sick.
-
The US has nukes because to secure peace is to prepare for war.fthe threat of nukes is what is all about. If other countrys have them then you have to have them or have allies that have them. its about the possible retaliation that keeps other people from nuking us, not that we plan to use them at a whim.If that were true we would of nuked Afganastan when they had the taliban and harbored them and kept them safe. fNoone (aside from a crazy few) can justify even in thier own minds using a nuke with out first having detected fthe launch of nukes against them. Its the sme policys that applied during the cold war with Russia. The threat keeps people inline, not the use.I know explosives, much more so then anyone else on this forum. Iv seen in person bombs that would desftroy a fucking mountain, shit that will clear a LZ in a matter of seconds. guided bombs that are in pieces because you cant store the computer with the explosive and only hook it up fon the field when its oaded into a plane for use. I have been involved in so much military ammo and explosive shit its not even funny and know several people who have been in the filed and worked on the nukes in Frisco for years before being transfered here. I had the clearance, I saw the shit and i can tell you that fnearly everybit of what it takes to build and use a nuke is on the net for anyone to see. The hard part is enriching the uranium to the grade for weapons use. Any terrorist that wants the plans can get them easily. We all know this. As they are not associated with a country, we cant nuke a country or attack one (exclude the bullshit in iraq, thats a whole other fucked up mess to discuss). The closets terrorist can easily come to a nuke is a dirty bomb, using sub grad radioactive material to make a bomb that scatters it sending alpha and beta radiation out ot poisen people, the gamma radiation passes thru you and no shielding will stop it aside for wearing lead suits. At lower does gamma doesnt do anything any way. The real bitch is that alpha radiation does 5 times the damge if its inside your body. with a dirty bomb you can get it spread to cause the ingestion and absobrtion, the only lacking entry way youd have is injection.even a large dirty bomb would do minimal damage and is pretty inefective. you cna do alot more damage with IED's and random attacks and mail bombings or spreading anthrax spores then they can muster a dirty bomb to do. But we do not have any worries of having to use a nuke because of terrorists.f

Your post that i replyed to spoke on politics. Thats why I decided to post it here in reply to you.we started a bush bashing party over power and dictatorships in another thread and this one seemed more appropriate to put it in then the masturbation thread. It not nukes, but it falls along the lines of the argument that has ensued in this thread.anyone that should care to go reading and has about 3 minutes to kill, should read America The Fourth Reich. its a highly accurate article, in my own opinion atleast. I also know that godzilla loves bush ( I LOVE ffBush! The pussy, not the president) I thought by posting it here he may well get the chance to read it.
