I really want to join the army, I don't know its just a sense of duty that I have. But my friend has been the most unnsuportive bastard. He is always trying to persuade me not to and one day even said out of nowhere "SO YOU'RE GONNA BE THE ARMY'S DOG, THE ARMY'S BITCH". God I hate him so much for shit like that! I'm sorry but does he have a point or is he just being an ass and let me do what I want with my life?

Army
-
He's just being an ass. It's for you to decide not him. Do what you want.
-
thanks for the help!
-
Are you talking about enlisting, or going to college to become an officer (and have them pay your tuition)?
-
thats one i dont know yet.
-
Tuition in exchange for a four-year commitment seems like a pretty fair deal for both parties....unless you really feel you're not ready for college when you finish high school.
They just raised the enlistment age from 40 to 42 (!) because they're having trouble meeting quota. The Navy is also having a lot of trouble recruiting officers for submarines.
If I were going to enlist, I would definitely pick the Air Force over the Navy, and the Navy over the Army, as far as quality of life is concerned.
-
Well really the way I see it its just that somebody needs to sacrifice.
-
He has a point. That is a fact. I worked for the army, I met alot of army assholes and argued with generals and any random idiot officer that wanted to challenge my athority over ammo.I can tell you that there has bene o pay increase for army employees (non civilian) for fucking years. They get paid less then poverty levels. They get bullied and fucked around more then anyone. The marines are worse. Its a fact, the only thing a marine is good for is to guard a fucking door, they wont let anyone thru no matter what and they wont leave post no matter if you drive a humvee straight into them. but they are so fucking brainwashed taking orders and guarding shit is all they are capable of.Not to mention all they are is sea going bellhops and the navys bitches.you really want to feel duty bound to join the service, then do nt be some piss on grunt bitch.do college, make sure you are going in at atleast an e-3 or above. The only way to do that is to do college first.second of all join either the navy, or airforce.navy has the brains and skills, or atleast that opinion is based on all my dealings with them. The air froce offers alot of shit you can use in real world jobs after you get out. The air force treats their people pretty fucking decently. So does the navy.look into shit, if your going to sign a few years of your life away dont take it lightly and do some research in all the fields. fthen do yourself the biggest favor you can and get some fucking school so you can start at a higher rank.

The US Army has a very bad reputation. Especially for a grunt. The fact that they lost Vietnam, the business going on in Iraq. They are stereotyped as incredibly stupid, trigger-happy wankers who are only in the army because they got tired of the ranch and couldn't find any other employment.I think this stereotype is what your friend is coming to his conclusion on.I don't know anything about their training, but I can imagine it is not very pleasant or really trains you how to deal with some of the situations that are going on.There is the old joke. When the British fire, the enemy ducks. When the enemy fires, the British duck. When the Americans fire, EVERYBODY ducks. All the friendly fire incidences are a pain in the arse and contribute towards their stereotype. Granted we shot one of our chally 2's but at least we had the decency to shoot at our own! I also have my heart set on the forces. I wish to become a Royal Marines officer. Which is going to be fuck-shit hard.If you wish to join as a squaddie then I would suggest that you do your research, find a nice little unit that isn’t completely full of complete pricks and join. All I can do is say good luck to you. I hope you do well, don’t listen to your friend. If that is what you want to do, then do it.Mr. Nuts

i dunno about duty. i mean, i have no sense of patriotism towards any country. just my input though. you do what you want. and ignore your friend, you should live by your own instincts and ignore his remarks.
-
Dude, your country is the best because you were born there. If you were born somewhere else, then that country would be best.
-
dont listen to him the army is great.it teaches you stuff that you wont find out in the usahttp://www.army.mil/
-
Being in the U.S army may require you to go to another country to fight against innocent people because bush wants to kill all iraqis.
-
I'm no Bush fan, but I don't think he wants to kill all Iraqis, although I heard he doesn't care about black people. In any case GODZILLA pretty much agrees with Bush 100%, so it shouldn't be a problem.
-
hey now lets not make this political! Its about me.
-
what the hell ya telling me for?I based my opinion on my own experiences, on the people i know that joined various branches and the people I dealt iwht for work in each service.I wouldnt join any of hte fuckers myself.
-
i dont agree to that. to me, a country is just a chunk of land. plus england is crap! so much crime.
-
(I was being sarcastic.)
-
u get benefits from the army too
-
In reply to: plus england is crap! so much crime. You clearly know very little about foreign countries.
