so I havent had my period in four months. But thats normal for me. Its usually irregular, one time I had it for like four weeks straight. Im just concerned because I hear so much about seeing the doctor, I know I'm not pregnant, no sex, but could anyone tell me the reasons why I might be this way? I've heard exercising affects this, and Im a dancer seven days a week since I was three. So if anybody knows about that as well ...

Period Problem!
-
What is your height and weight? (In other words, are you underweight?)
-
Well... Just a suggestion, go to the doctor. I don't know if there's a reason to be really worried, but I think it might be sn enlightment for you to know precisely why it's so regular. People on this site can come with many good suggestions of what the problem is, but they cant be sure, nor can you I just think you should pay the doctor a visit.

Im not underweight, Im normal for my BMI, and all.
-
It could be hormonal related, a cyst...you need to see a doctor if you haven't had your period for more than 3 months.
-
yea, see a doctor. nothing at all might be wrong, every1s body is different, they may just put you on the pill and that will regulate you
-
yeah, go see a doctor. It could be if you've lost wieght recently, or if you're stressed.

I found this site the other day about menstral cycles:
Menstrual Cycles
There is alot of info here. About half way down it talks about Menstral Myths (it is bolded) and says this:In reply to:
It's true that most women will have cycles that are around 28 days. But, a woman can be healthy and normal and have just 3 or 4 cycles a year.
It also goes on to say that although this may be normal it could also be some other serious problem like Type 2 Diabetes.
Hope this helps ya.

Having three to four cycles a year is not normal. There is a hormonal imbalance somewhere if nothing else can be found. While it may not be dangerous for the health it can cause other problems, and if you're trying to get pregnant, you could have a lot of difficulties, since you're not ovulating on a regular basis. If you haven't had your period in 3 months you need to see a doctor.

I have to agree with ya, my lack of a proper menstrual cycle was the first sign of having Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome! Tho it depends on age as early on period can sometimes be very irregular, however, a visit to the doctors should be on the cards cos you never know.
-
Well then apparently that site is wrong, cause that is where I seen it.

Ok so I got my period four days ago and now its over, I told my mom about going to the doctors but she just thinks nothing is wrong and Ill be put on birth control, because my sister had the same problem too. I just dont want to end up so that i cant have children some day.
