if im gonna start running, would it be better to do it at night or in the morning, or does it not matter? Im also running on a treadmill and was wondering if the incline makes any significant difference.

Running

I'd say sometime earlier in the day, because you will be more energized and will be able to run for longer. The incline would make it similar to a hill, which is harder to run than a flat surface, so it will be more difficult. Personally, I'd prefer to run around 6-8 in the morning outside because it's cooler and you're in fresh air. Also, from my experience, running on a treadmill is easier than running outside in the sense that you're on a flat surface with no changes, whereas outside you'll have different surfaces with different textures and steepness. Although, you get better oxygen usually and don't have to look at the same thing for an extended period of time.

your more energized at 6 in the morning o.O, Im barely alive. You'd have something different to look at if you ran in front of a tv, and I dont think small changes in the surfaces really change the amount of exercise. I guess maybe it doesnt matter, I was just thinking that maybe running at night would burn all the food you ate, or I heard that when you sleep you burn more calories than if you were to just sit, so maybe when you wake up and have less food in you if you would burn fat instead.

I'd only run at 6-8 in the morning if I had been up a little longer before that and had gotten sufficient sleep. Running early will let you exercise longer because you've been re-energized from your sleep. When you run late at night, you've lost a lot of energy. You want to have energy when you run. It's a lot different running on a treadmill compared to running outside, in my opinion.

my soccer coach once mentioned something about running outside and how the changes help your balance/foot quickness because of the variations in terrain

The time of day really really varies person to person, on weekends I tend to do nights (just because I love night running) and week days I do about 4-5am before school, and if you can do it outside, definitely shoot for outside. If you feel self conscious, just find a quiet area where you're alone. The feeling and energy you get outside tends to be much more exhilarating then the feeling you get inside your house. As far as energy relating to time of days, are you a night owl, Hawaiian rooster, or early bird?

I personally find it hard to run in the morning because my blood and muscles are deprived of high enough levels of glucose to really feel energetic. I need the energy from food to get a good run. My best time of day is night, if I've eaten properly that is, otherwise I feel sluggish.
Not to say I don't like early morning runs. I find it very invigorating to get out before everyone else (is generally the opposite) and go for a run while the sun is still low in the sky and the birds are chirping around me. When I was down in Maui the morning runs were amazing.
