How does people deal with depression
-
Linkin Park is the best, I never really listened to their lyrics untill I was slightly depressed and wow, every song they write deals with a seperate problem many of us have. And the music just roxorz my boxorz no matter what.
-
I feel like if you can deal with depression by listening to heavy metal bands it is not really depression it is just a blue moment. I feel as if nothing can really help people deal with depression.
-
I feel as if nothing can really help people deal with depression. Some people respond to therapy. Some people respond to antidepressants. Some do better with both.Seriously.
-
I thought he meant more with hobbies. I don't think getting therapy and poppin' antidepressants is a good hobby, could just be me though.
-
I interpreted "nothing" to mean "nothing". It sounds like the OP was discussing listening to music to relieve sadness, as opposed to depression.> I don't think getting therapy and poppin' antidepressants is a good hobbyThey may not be a good hobby, but they can be an effective way to deal with depression (lot better than random psychoactive substances), which is the alleged subject of this thread.
-
I deal with it by working out every day followed by a long shower. Yeah, it's probably better to talk to somebody, but there isn't always somebody there to talk to. Besides, it takes out all the frustration for a couple hours. Speaking of which...
-
i go and listen to music and try to get out of my house a lot, and talking about it helps
-
I listen to jazz, relaxes me.
-
I try to listen to music, or drink something warm and soothing, or do some programming, which normally cheers me up. I often, though, just walk around aimlessly, sit doing nothing, until it passes over.
-
my impulse is so drink alot of slcohol when im depressed. wich is weird cuz i feel like i need to drink but i dont drink much in the 1st place so its not like im an alcoholic....

Man, I am really starting to get that overall feeling of crap after splitting with my ex 3 weeks ago. Does anyone else feel like you're desperately trying to keep your head above water while something is pulling at your legs? I'm always at the point where I'm getting just enough air to survive. While I was with her I was only waste deep and emerging a little more every day. Right now I'm back where I started and can feel the grip slowly tightening.I dunno. Another boring Saturday night alone. I hate weekends.
-
youll get better with time. trust me. breakups are tough. but it should be better soon. pm me if you want to talk XOx

It's just nights (especially on weekends) are the worst. I really REALLY miss holding somebody. That's the kinda guy I am. Sex is good and everything, but holding someone's hand and falling asleep in each other's arms melts my heart every time. It'll happen again. But I'll be damned if I'm looking forward to jumping through hoops and the mind numbing routine of dating.
