ok this isnt all that serious but its still VERY annoying...my hair is thick but very fine. it can take to only two colors: blond and black. i just had my hair recently dyed bright red/pink. i paid about $30 to get it done. and it was only done about two weeks ago and already its fading!! its supposed to be permanent!!!! any suggestions on how i can keep my color longer?!?!?! when i first had it done i waited about three days before i washed it, now i wash it every second day and the water still goes pink (im using shampoo and conditioner for color treated too - Herbal essences and down under naturals). someone please help. i find having "normal" hair so boring lol, but any other color just doesnt take to my hair....

Hair dye!!!

Its very normal for the colour to fade, the brighter the colour the quicker they seem to fade, when i had blood red hair i would have to recolour at minimum 3-4 weeks to keep the vibrancy, not 6 like they say on the box...........deeper colours fade slower, my hair is a deep purple at the moment, that goes bright in the sun and thats pretty much lasting the 6 weeks before i have to re-colour.............also some colours will take better to your hair than others, as do some makes of dye over others..........i find LIVE colours stay in my hair really well, whereas a freinds faded to nothing within 4 weeks.........and using shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair will help a lot, and don't use head and shoulders, its strips hair colour fast

In reply to: don't use head and shoulders, its strips hair colour fast very true. i have to use it cuz i had stupid dandriff..grrr. and it took it out in like 2 weeks...i'm just letting it go normal now lol i have brown hair and sometimes i get it colored / highlighted...wutever blond. it usally only lasts a couple weeks to a month... my sisters last longer but she uses a shampoo for color hair or something.. some shampoos will take it out and others will help it stay longer. i'm going on wut i been told about shampoos lol NOthing is permanent exept ur real natural har color....and i dk if that's even permanent since mines whent from blond to dark blond to brown ....and one day either fall out or go gray LMAo well if i live that long ...

thanx hunn. i just hate it when my color fades....i dont use head and shoulders anyways, my hair is just so weird :S

I dyed pats of my hair bright pink a couple of weeks ago, and now that's faded to a pretty cool strawberry blonde, which i'm happy with, cos it goes with more clothes and still shows against my dark brown hair. but it was annoying that it went so quickly, even though on the box I couldn't see where it said how long it would last (yes, I'm either blind or dumb, don't ask).anyhoo, i'm using pantene pro v colour protect shampoo and conditioner, which didn't do much for the pink, but is working wonders on keep my hair darker than it used to be.

Yeah, I dyed my hair bright purple and by the second wash it had already faded, I used proffesional hair dye. I was really P.O'd But yet I just got my hair dyed dark brown and this one is staying fine -_-;; Such is life.

dont worry dear, ive been dying my hair since i was about 15 and ive recently gone blonde from brunette. but id suggest using special conditions and shampoos. dove have a good new range for ppl who have dyed their hair light to dark and dark to light that prolongs the colour but keeps you hair shin, etc. or use a shampoo thats for red hair that might work aswell. make sure u keep yr hair moisturised though, otherwise next time u go to dye it, it;ll go to straw! hope this works!!~+xXSamXx+~

thanks hunn. the weird thing about my hair is that whenever i dye it, it goes healthier. O___o;; its so weird. il see if i can find some good shampoo and stuff the only problem is that its so expensive. but o well. ive dyed my hair since i was 13, and i say that i dyed it about 20 times, and its so damn healthy. almost too healthy (its really fine). maybe thats why the color doesnt stay well. lol.

Buy a dye that covers greys. I use Herbatint and its like 17.99 a box but the results are great.
Use a shampoo that seals in colour because sometimes when you wash your hair the alcohol in the shampoo strips hair colour. Most shampoos have Alcohol, its hard to find ones that dont. Read the ingredients.

Okay, probably shouldn't admit to knowing anything about hair, as I'm a man, but, anyway... here goes with my two cents seems I pop up everywhere these days lol ... Right, you say your hair is naturally quite fine, so, I'd suggest a colour enrich conditioner with thickening properties to help thicken your hair, as, dye tends to take better to thick hair (I know this because when I used to have highlights, the hairdresser loved doing my hair, because, it was quote "nice and thick, to help the dye stick" unquote) and, as for a shampoo that's good with coloured hair, the L'Oreal colour enrich shampoo (the one that comes in the red packaging) is pretty good, as I'd say the Herbal Essences one is, which you're already using, other than that, you could always try asking your local hairdresser for advice, after all, they see a myraid of different hair types on a daily basis, and, as it's their trade, have to know how to best treat each kind of hair Oh, and, something I was also told... if you're dying your hair, supposedly, it's better if you don't wash it the day before you have it dyed, as this also helps the dye to bond with your hair follicles... I really have no idea how the science bit of that works, just what my hairdresser told me!! lolAnyway, I'm gonna act all embarrassed and slink off back to my rather comfy bed now lolDan
