Heart problems

I doubt it's your heart. Maybe your lungs, or chest muscle but you should ask your doctor.
-
It's much more likely to be what is called "heartburn", which is actually due to indigestion. You feel most pain at the surface of your body, and pain in internal organs is often "referred" - it is felt on the surface, but at a different place. Hence stomach pain may be felt in the heart area. People having a heart attack often feel pain in their upper left arm.
-
Is heartburn harmful at all or just painful?
-
It suggests your stomach is being put under stress. If it happens occasionally it's no biggie, but if you have regular heartburn it suggests there's a problem. Most often it happens from eating too much food that takes time to digest too quickly.
-
Yeah, alot of patients come in with chest pain and it turns out to be gastro related.
-
If it's chronic (in other words, if it happens often), it is a problem. It may not be just stress, and should be discussed with a doctor, if that's thee case.
-
Yeah it doesn't happen a lot. just every so often.

I get it too and I always worry one day if some one scares me I will have a heart attack. My doctor says my heart sounds very healthy, so I dont see why I have pains and shortness of breath. I am not a teen but Im not even 25 yet and I have this. It could be hereditary.. ask your foks if they ever exprience the same.

I'd actually be most likely to agree with Ineligable on this one, chances are, it'll be heartburn, what you need to do is start thinking about what you've eaten when you start to get it... even what you've drunk, the perfect example is that I can't drink full fat boy coca-cola because it gives me massively uncomfortable heartburn... you can always tell the following day, if I've been on vodka and cokes, I'm the one with no hangover, but, in extreme pain with heartburn!!!! lolGeneral causes of heartburn, in my experience: very spicy foods (anything from Madras & hotter is a good indicator), drinks with a LOT of vegitable extracts in (such as coca-cola), a very high caffeine intake (yet, still, guilty as charged), foods that have a high acidic content as well, such as onions, pickles, and things like that, basically, all those late night foods too, as your body doesn't have time to digest them before you sleep (our PTI's (physical training instructors) recommend you don't eat 2 to 3 hours before you sleep)Another good point, is to go and see the doc, more for peace of mind than anything else, lots of things turn out to be something simple, but, all they do is stress us out :S Anyway, hope this helpsDan
