I suspect that I may have ADHD. I can never get any work done without wasting lots of time because of my wavering mind. Often, I'll sit down to study for a test, only to find myself drifting off for long periods of time. It can sometimes be extremely frustrating...there have been times when I went to the library to get work done, and I sat there for hours...only to accomplish very little. Also, I always have to be twiddling my fingers or moving something. I can never sit perfectly still. People tell me that I don't have ADHD however because I can concentrate when I absolutely have to. I can concentrate during tests and quizzes etc. But I can never seem to concentrate when I am doing homework or any other task even when I tell myself that it is extremely important.I know a few people with ADHD, and I am similar to them in many ways, except I think I may have am mild case. A good friend of mine was very much like me but just a little more extreme. Sometimes, I had so much trouble concentrating that I asked my friend if I could have a few adderall capsules. When I took those....it was amazing. I was able to work all night without taking even a small break. However, in the later hours....it made me get really tweaky and my mouth got really dry. I was so tweaky that I kept biting my lower lip to the point that I got some painful canker sores there for a few days. I really want to get rid of this problem. It's been a major hindrance to my life. I did pretty well in school, and I'm currently getting decent grades in college....but I would hvae done so much better if I could focus. Thanks in advance for any input.

Do I have ADHD?

hmmm ... the first thing with :" I suspect that I may have ADHD. I can never get any work done without wasting lots of time because of my wavering mind. It can sometimes be extremely frustrating...there have been times when I went to the library to get work done, and I sat there for hours...only to accomplish very little. "
i had that too.
u need a vacation -
Yeah the first few lines basically say this. I am completely normal. My mind wanders all the time, but I do not have ADD or ADHD. Oh and you do need a vacation or a good few nights as previously stated.

I'm more or less the same way. I can only concentrate when I'm under extreme amounts of pressure (e.g. tests and the like). I'd say I normally waste about 80% of the time I intend to use for studying, etc. I'm not sure if it's ADHD, and to be honest, concentration abilities may exist on more of a spectrum than the black and white picture painted by the alleged ADHD/non-ADHD dichotomy. That said, I doubt that you need medication unless your inability to concentrate has a significantly deleterious effect on your life. Are you doing well in school? If so, it might not really be a big deal---I’ve managed to survive despite my inability to concentrate. Then again, no one here is a psychiatrist or doctor, so you might talk to a professional if you want a more solid answer.

In reply to: I have chem exam at six thirty and a lab from 3 - 6. So I should be studying but I am listenening to music and posting here. Brings back memories. I did stuff like that numerous times, and I can see myself doing that again.

yeah the exam was easy, meaning i did terrible. So that is why you study, but I really hate chemistry I am more of a Physics and Math guy.

When I had finals I would sit at the computer with coffee and type very detailed notes for 2 pages then when I was done with those 2 pages I would check to see if there were any new posts on a2a. If there were, I would respond, if there weren't I would do another 2 pages until someone replied. Sadly, I was slacking on my homework and needed to do half my notebook in 3 nights. over 20 cups of coffee later I finished and my GPA is still 4.0

ahhh, but what major. See I am going for Aeronautical Engineer, so I get pummeled by Math and science. I mean it is my freshmen year and I am in MA 261 = Multivariet Calculus or Calculus III.

computer network specialist is my major, but I was cramming for my political science and microeconomics classes. lol. I spent about a total of 24 hours studying on each subject and doing a notebook. When I get into my networking classes it shouldn't be so hard, but we'll see.
