Hello everyone,I am 17 1/2 years old and i am worried that i have Phimosis. I can pull my foreskin back to around 2/3 way down my head but there is a sort of string like piece of skin that stops it going any further.. I do not think that my foreskin is too tight to get any further down my head, just that this piece of skin is holding it in place and stops it going any further. I cannot pull my foreskin past my head when my penis is unerect either.I can masturbate without this being an issue at all - so it doesnt hurt or anything - but i am just really worried about why my foreskin wont go any further I really dont want to talk to my parents or see a doctor about it so some advice would be helpful.ThanksUser1001

How long have you been able to able to retract the foreskin? Is it just recently or have you been doing this for a while?
\>\> but there is a sort of string like piece of skin that stops it going any further..
The piece of skin is the frenulem. It's perfectly normal that it's attaching the foreskin to the penis glans.

It helps if you can retract the foreskin when errect since it's supposed to retract when having sex or applying a condom, but at the moment if you can atleast retract when flacid that's adequate for cleaning the glans to remove any smegma buildup while showering.

It seems to be retracting as much as the frenulem will allow when flacid. Since it still seems to be tight when hard, you need to work on that by stretching it back a little bit each day and it should loosen eventually.
\> I really dont want to talk to my parents or see a doctor about it so some advice would be helpful.
If you feels it's a problem you shouldn't feel embarassed to discuss with parents and definitly not a doctor since they'll have dealt with this sort of thing many times before.
A doctor can actually help if your foreskin is tight when errect. They can prescribe various creams that's will help make it easier to retract in addition to stretching excerises. And there's always the option of a partial curcumcision if nothing else works. Although that would be something that would possibly be done as a last resort. -
Hi and thanks for your reply.>>>How long have you been able to able to retract the foreskin? Is it just recently or have you been doing this for a while?I have never really tried to pull my foreskin back since 5 months ago.>>>Since it still seems to be tight when hard, you need to work on that by stretching it back a little bit each day and it should loosen eventually. The conditions i gave - i.e it goes back 2/3 of the way down the head but seems to be stopped from going any further by the frenulem - is when my penis IS erect.Does this mean i cannot have sexual intercourse with my penis as it is //User1001

All it means is that you have to work on stretching out the forskin and frenulum. There are plenty of threads in the Forskin forum and a link in the Male Anatomy thread above.

OK. So would you say this is something i can work out myself - by doing this streching excercises?Cheers,//User1001

I think so.

Thanks for the information. I looked at that thread and i certainly think that it applies to me.However i do have one or two questions about it which would be good if you could answer, i hope its ok writing them here and i dont need to put them in the other forum section?1) I feel like its REALLY going to hurt if i pull back my foreskin and it makes me feel a bit faint - as though its real pain (even though i stop when it starts to hurt). Is this normal and is there anything i can do about it to help with moving forward with the streching excercises.2) Is this a common condition? Do many people have it?3) Is there anywhere i can see some pictures of what this condition looks like just so i can see if i am in the same sort of situation as others?4) Is it OK to have sexual intercourse with phimosis - although i suppose i must have relative phimosis seeing as i can pull the foreskin back a fair way Thank you SO much for all your help so far and any more you can give me!//User 1001

In reply to:1) I feel like its REALLY going to hurt if i pull back my foreskin and it makes me feel a bit faint - as though its real pain (even though i stop when it starts to hurt). Is this normal and is there anything i can do about it to help with moving forward with the streching excercises. Yes, that is normal. Basically you don't just rip it back all the way all at once - you gradually work on it pulling it back further and further, stopping when you get pain, and holding it there as long as you can. As the frenulum stretches, you will find you will be able to retract more and more. It will take at least several weeks, to maybe several months to stretch your frenulum. Be patient. In reply to:2) Is this a common condition? Do many people have it?Yes, it is a common problem. I've read many posts over the years here with the same issue you have. Most are able to solve the problem with stretching exercises. You're actually not bad off - some guys can't retract at all, even when flaccid. In reply to:3) Is there anywhere i can see some pictures of what this condition looks like just so i can see if i am in the same sort of situation as others?I'm not aware of any specific to a tight frenulum, versus general phimosis. Maybe do a search on google? In reply to:4) Is it OK to have sexual intercourse with phimosis - although i suppose i must have relative phimosis seeing as i can pull the foreskin back a fair way Technically you don't have phimosis. Phimosis is an inability to retract the foreskin do to a tight foreskin opening, usually the frenar band that is too small and won't stretch. Yours is simply a frenulum that is a bit short and needs some stretching. Anyway, it is OK to have sex with your foreskin the way it is, especially if there is a condom on, as the condom will prevent the foreskin from getting pulled back on the in stroke during sex. However, you will be missing out on some pleasure if the head isn't fully exposed.

Hello,This is a picture of a penis that is similar to mine: http://popmed.ru/files/2006/phimosis.jpgSo is this phimosis? And is the best thing for me to do the stretching excercises?Ta
-
if you can feel/see a ring thats restricting your foreskin retracting then you have phimosis. If you dnt, then ur foreskin is just tight.either way, start stretching excercises, theres plenty of topics and ppl in similar situations in the foreskin section of this site so dnt feel afraid to ask around!! good luck

Yes, that would appear to be phimosis. But remember, alot of uncut penises will look that way - but the skin easily slides over the head and down onto the shaft. In that case, it isn't phimosis, just a foreskin that doesn't cover the entire head when flaccid. Phimosis is all about a tight foreskin that cannot be retracted.

Hi,I have been doing those streching excercises for the past week or so and i can no i can pull back my foreskin over my head so that it is totally exposed - but this is only when the penis is un-erect. Also, there is loads of sort of yellow & white stuff but i dont know how to clean it off? I have tried rinising it in water but it doesnt get the stuff off...Anyway, as for getting my foreskin to expose the head when the penis is erect what should i do? Keep on doing those streching excercises? Thanks
-
Stretch when erect. the gunk is smegma.. you need to rub it off.
-
It feels really really wierd when i touch the head to try and rub the stuff off - not a nice feeling at all :s - it feels just sooo sensetive that any contact is uncomfortable..Also, one other thing i wanted to mention, if i pull my foreskin down when unerect and my penis is stimulated the head sort of swells up loads - is this an issue?thank you for all your help!
-
Contact is the only way to desensitize the head.and my penis is stimulated the head sort of swells up loads Umm it's called an erection (or on the way to an erection)
-
"Contactis the only way to desensitize the head."Ok. Is there anything that you would reccommend to sort of start off with - so that it doesnt feel so uncomfortable as using my hands..."Umm it's called an erection (or on the way to an erection)"lol, i know, but it just seems that the head is swelling more than it would normally if i didnt have the foreskin pulled down...Oh well, i'll just keep on with these streching techniques and see if this changes..Thanks
-
Ok, thanks for the advice.
I will carry on as before and see how i get on.. btw, now that i can retract the foreskin whilst unerect do i need to now do the stretching excercises whilst erect in order to see any progress?
Thanks

Try using a little bit of baby oil on the smegma to help soften it and help it detach from the head. Should make it easier to clean off so you don't have to rub as hard. This is kind of a one-time deal since you've never retracted before and there is a large build up of old smegma. Now that you can retract, you can wash under your foreskin more frequently, and you shouldn't get a large build up anymore, and if you do, it should be easier to clean off because it won't be so old and sticky. When smegma gets old, it turns into like glue, which is why you're having a tough time getting it off. Normally, smegma just wipes right off if it is not too old.
