I currently work in a salon, where constant contact in inevitable. Recently, (about a month ago), a client came in asking for a haircut. An older teenager, possibly in his late teens, early 20's, who appeared to be suffering from severe acne. Without any thought, I motioned him over. Upon closer observation, I realized he had what appeared like blisters all over his face and base of neck. Most of them appeared clear in color, yet some contained yellow substance. All were different, with shape and size. Naturally, because of my profession, I am always observant of situations, due to lice...etc. This is the first encounter I have ever actually seen, in person. These blisters, some of which were the size of a quarter, continued through the opening of his shirt and arms. I inquired, in a discreet manner, of course. Only for him to reply that it was acne. I explained my concern for his safety as well as others, for my asking. But, I feel as though I was being lied to. I wore gloves, and bleached everything he touched after he left, as I was concerned with coming into contact with fluid. Fortunately, all he wanted was for me to shave his head with clippers, and a guard. This has had me puzzled ever since. Because I work with general public, I always follow strict sanitation rules, as well as trying to keep up with current information on STI's. Due these symptoms sound familiar to anyone?? Thanks.

Curious about customers!

it was probably just acne, some people have severe acne, and acne can occur any place on the body, not just the face

Well I haven't ever seen that before, but it sounds to me like you did the right thing.

I agree, it sounds like severe acne. It's also likely he picks at them, causing them to open and bleed and suppurate. Your actions were wise, though. Good thinking.
