I've had a really positive experience of using the Mirena IUD and just thought I'd share it with other women. It is only suitable for women who've already had kids, hence the subject line. It's a highly reliable form of contraception, as effective as female sterilisation, and it works differently to other old fashioned IUD's in that it also releases hormones into the woumb, similar to the way the pill works. The older versions of IUD used to make periods heavier but the Mirena makes them increadibly light. I've had it for three years now and cant speak highly enough of it. I've gone from bleeding for 8 - 12 days to 8 - 12 minuites literally, and not even every month! Honestly, a bit of 'spotting' every couple of months and thats it. So it's a brilliant form of contraception for any woman who suffers from heavy painful periods, because it's not just the bleeding thats gone; you dont get any other symptoms of periods, pain, cramps etc either.I'd be happy to answer any questions of my experience of it, and you can find out more about it here: http://www.womens-health.co.uk/mirena.asp
