ok, this is the deal with my hairim naturally a reddy blonde but abit more then a yr ago i finally got the guts and dyed it a dark brown. it looked fine. when i got abit of regrowth i went for a slightly lighter more reddy bown colour and kept up that colour since then.ok, my problem is this. the lighter colour dosnt lighten the dark brown thats on the length of my hair but it darkens my blonde regrowth 2 an awsum colour. the result being that, the top of my head is pretty much a different and lighter colour to the rest of my hair, which looks pretty dumb.i wanna get all my hair the colour that the dye make on my natural blonde regrowth as i think the lengths of my hair r 2 dark me me. problem: i dont no how 2 do this. oviously dying the lighter shade over the darker 1 dosnt work. would i have to buy sumthing to lighten my hair to my naturalish colour, then dye the colour over top of that? would the dye come out the same colour on the lightened hair as it would my natural regrowth? any1 no a product i can use 2 achive this? and will lightening my hair then colouring it totally eff up my hair and make it all fall out or sumthing?and advice would b usefull cuz i do look like a bit of a dick with my multi cloured stipey hair.

This is a typical womans hair problem hon, and unfortunatly the only effective way around it is to cut out the dark legnths and keep on dying the regrowth the colour you like. You could have the whole head stripped with a lightening bleach, but this would leave your hair with the consistancy of straw; not a good look regardless of colour! Some people try to just bleach the colour they dislike but this inevitably leads to what hairdressers refer to as 'bands of colour' as some of the bleach will inevitably lighten some of the hair colour you like too and result in a patchy trailer-trash effect. So the chop it is girl, I'm afriad! How long is the colour you like grown out to? Could you handle cutting out all the dark? If you dont like that idea the only thing is to keep dying the regrowth for another few months till your lighter auburn colour is at a legnth that would be acceptible to you and then get the darker legnths cut out.

hehe, well, cutting it off may not b an option as that would leave me with aproximatly 3 or 4 inches of hair. lol. sum ppl can pull off that look, im not 1 of them. and it would b a crapload of hair to cut off...my hair pretty long..but not in an exclusive bretherin type way, in a good way.ok, thanx 4 crearing that up, i dose stop me from doing sumthing totaly stupid. its really not that noticeable 2 me exept in pictures its very ovious and kinda anoyes me...i spose i can deal with it.thanx alot

Probably if you went along to a hairdresser Cute, they could do a half decent job, but really, I swear you to, it would only be HALF decent and you'd have to pay through the nose for it.
I've been dying my hair very dark brown for donkeys years and have lately been thinking about letting my natural light brown grow back but the only thing stopping me is imagining going around with butt-short hair for ages - I was used to winding my hair around my belt as a habit before I got it trimmed back a bit so I just cant imagine that, you know yourself luv - it's a girl thing! -
yea, im 2 poor 4 the hairdressers right now and i dont really trust them. i go 2 a very reputable ( and not cheep) place for a cut only bout 4 times a yr cuz i neva remember to get round to it, and i get a desent cut once in a blue moon, the last 1 i got is super great and i wanna give that women a big hug and offer her my eternal love as finally sum1 knows how 2 not make curly hair look like an afroo mess.
honest to god, the time b4 that the asked if i wanted it dryed curly or streight, i made the mistake of saying curly and she dryed it into tiny curls and gave me an afro for the rest of the shopping day.
so, i can only imagine the damade theyed do if i let them go mad with colours. and its not really a habit i can keep up, bit pricey 4 a student.
lol, yea, no what u mean bout the long hair, i think i have a thing 4 it cuz i was never aloud to grow my hair past my sholders when i was little cuz it got tangely while my sister had really awsum streight brown hair about but lenght. i was so jealous...and i cant imagine sliceing it all off. tho, i have gone from very long to short ( short 4 me anyway) and its amazeing how much hair weighs, u only realise it when u slice it all off. -
Mind you this is coming from a man so I might be far off.But would perhaps getting highlights help hide some of the “discoloration"?

Cut it to the scalp and grow it whatever color comes out...after all, God and life are full of surprises  Of course, I cut my hair almost to the scalp on a regular basis, so I guess I'd be the wrong person to chime in. Sorry, Cute, disregard what I said

I don't think the hairdresser would be able to do anything for you, because you used store-bought dyes. Those dyes and salon dyes are made of different chemicals, and they don't really mesh. If you go to her, you might end up with green hair, or something else that turns out really weird. My advice to you is, in the future, use Semi- or Demi-permanent dyes, so that they fade or wash out over time, and don't leave a line once your hair grows out.
-
yea, that would have been a good idea but at the time when i desided to go brown it was because i pasionatly hated my natural colour at the time and never wanted to see it ever again....probably abit of an over reaction
-
You could still cut it to the scalp...and brush your hair with a towel as I do. It's a wonderful time-saver in the mornings...
Just kidding cute, but I don't have anything to add to your thread and I hate feeling left out :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

hehe, i have always been alittle curious about what my scalp looked like. i mean, i wonder if its bumpy or sumthing...but no, i value my hair. its hot and provided hours of amusement with streching the curls out to ful lenght and letting them spring back. teehee

A good salon will be able to fix it, no matter if it was a home dye or not.
-
i may try that in the summer holidays when i get a job, right now im way 2 poor. and every1 keeps haveing birthdays and that dosnt help etha as all my cash is goin towords prezzies
-
your birthday is in a couple of weeks. Maybe someone should be paying for you to go to the salon.

My girlfriend had the same problem. She ended up going to a salon and got her hair stripped. They did a really good job and now it kind of looks like brown with heaps of streaks of blonde. Now her natural (blonde) hair is growing through and doesn't look weird like it did before. It cost her about $120ish I think.

good point but i already escorted my mum on a "shopping spree" where she spent a small fortune on lingery 4 me for my birthday....it was ALOT of very expensive, beautiful, sexy, yuummmmy bras and knickers drool so i think thats the majority of my prezzy from the parentals taken up, that and they got me new jeans. i alreasy feel like theyre spent to much.my friends cant afford it cuz theyre all poor like me...exept my best buddy wanted to buy me sum very yummy perfume and i told her off cuz its just to much...i feel bad when ppl buy me stuff. maybe ill save up or wait till i have a job...hmmmmmoh and theres also the "i told u so" factor with my mum who didnt approve of my use of DIY hair colours...hehe, its mot bothering me that much now but i will probably go to a salon and get it sorted in the summer holidays. thanx every1
