I don't know countless times I hear people say Premarital sex is a sin? but I'm not sure from what I've read this is shown. This is the very closet thing I can find."Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication [porneia], let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband." (1 Corinthians 7:1-2, KJV)Now according to our dictionary Fornication is Premarital sex, however according from the same thing they got porniea from, the Hebrew tranlsation(Also I believe the bible was wrote in and translated from) means to whore.and reading the bible everytime Fornication was mentioned it was shown reffered to whore/adultery. so having wife/husband stops whores according to this but does not say really that Premarital sex is a sin?Where exactly does it claim this in the bible does anyone know? because it would be nice to figure out where these "Stated" things according to some people I talk to.) in the bible.

Hmmm

I think the bible is pretty clear on that in more than one place, though not having studied it I couldnt direct you to where. Why dont you have a look on a christian website? I'm sure you'd find it there.
-
I tried that D=, I could shoot down everything they said though, with actual proof against it withen the bible etc, not random facts, maybe I will search longer later though
-
Where does it say in the bible sex before marraige is acceptable in Gods eyes? I'd be interested to know, because my boyfriend was a Jehovahs witness and studied the Bible for ten years, and he maintains it's very clear on that point. I'm a non-practicing Catholic myself and have issue with a lot of what the bible teaches. We could have a good debate on this if you directed me to the passages I ought to read and could possibly quote.
-
Have you studied the Bible? If you have (or anyone else has) could someone please tell me, are there certain passages in the New Testament that tell people to stop performing certain rituals that Jewish people still perform?
Such as Passover. Christians believe in Moses, nearly all of the first Christians were Jewish, including Jesus himself. So why did Christianity drop certain religious events?
-
so... god gave us the capacity of pleasure. Then, for some reason, we decided that the best way to get closer to god is to deny that gift. THEN, we decided that to be a representitive of god on Earth, one must be selibate. If I was god, I'd be pissed that my gift wasn't being used.

you shouldn't talk about christianity like that on here. it can get ugly unfortunately and you might be offended. depending how old you are you should check with your church pastor or youth group. we usually discuss it there in detail. or go to a christian website like starfish said those help alot. if you refer to the Bible it can get confusing especially if it's the KJV. NIV is good. from what I've learned because of Him sacrificing Himself for us and allowing us another chance to be with the Father there's alot of "rituals" we needn't do but Jews do.

So because Jesus died for our sins, we can now eat pork?
-
pretty much. IMO it all dates back to the origin of sin. and then the develop of His plan
-
The development of His plan? I thought the belief was that everything was planned from the beginning?
-
basically
-
Then how could it change or develop? Why would God make us do stuff for hundreds of years and then suddenly make us stop?
-
I'm sorry. Since He's all-knowing He knew from the beginning. Thanks Radeck that's true and comforting
-
Because anyone could be a dick.

I know no Greek, so I can't comment on that, but I'd be surprised if the word meant something different from the way it's always been interpreted. It's true that fornication and adultery are often (not always) mentioned together, but that wouldn't be surprising anyway, as both are forms of sex outside marriage.bobalicious, there were Jewish Christians in the early days, who followed Jewish traditions and festivals. However Jesus made it clear that his followers were not to be confined to the Jews, and see for example Acts 10:9-23.Plans don't involve doing the same thing all the time. The concept of sacrifice of a lesser good for a greater one still holds, though.

Disclaimer: If you think you will get slightly mad if you see something considered religion bashing which I am not attempting to do but might do accidental, then probably best not to read.Well, I'm not really in one of my debative moods tonight, however you can find this stuff @ www.esword.net, download the little .exe things and search for Fornication and search for it in the dictionary, and if you read it you will quickly find out Fornication is not reffering to Premarital sex.I have recentally been studying stuff that is said by the people to be sinful such as gay/bi/masturbation/premarital sex. and learned from what I heard from people, is not quite true, while as you look at one verse you could agree with them, however reading the rest quickly changes ones opinion. Is there any other supposed sins that suppose to of been stated such as these that doesn't appear to be actually stated you can think of?But seriously, I never heard of a line saying most of all animals are going to hell, there are very few who mate for life, wolves, geese etc. And I seem to remember people in the bible having multiple wives.I am not claiming this as good but it kind of contradicts the whole give your self to one and one only or whatever statement howeverto avoid fornication [porneia], let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband." (1 Corinthians 7:1-2, KJV) Fornication (Porneia) From G4203; harlotry (including adultery and incest); figuratively idolatry: - fornication this is from strongs dictionary. From H2181; harlotry, that is, (figuratively) idolatry: - fornication, whoredom. yet again strongs dictionary. So changing Fornication, to whore its seems to mean let each a woman and man to have there own wife/husband to stop whores.I am to understand the H means Hebrew and G means Greek, the bible was wrote in Hebrew, therefore its terms for Fornication should logically.Sorry if my spelling sucks, but hey at least its not 1337 talk like you get from most 15 year olds :P

Well I can't debate it either, not being a scholar in either Greek or Hebrew.http://www.esword.net appears to be a gun site ("For the best resources and information on Guns and Self Defense", it says, with a picture of a gun in - believe it or not - a simulated viola, or possibly mandolin, case). It doesn't seem a likely scholarly source. The Old Testament was written in Hebrew; the New Testament in first-century demotic Greek. The Old Testament Apocrypha (Deuterocanonical books for Catholics) were written in Aramaic.

probably meant ".org"

Umm hold on, let me find that link lmao guns whoops.
