"Yes" as to removing human control. That's the whole point of it. As far as "dictatorship" is concerned, this only applies if you are forced to follow. If we willingly do so, it's another matter entirely.

But once again, that's only magnetic north/south, which were named after the physical directions they were located in when magnetism was discovered.

Read the book and you'll know my thoughts on the subject. In a nutshell, I think we all experience many lives in which we learn...and once we learn what we need, we move on to a higher state of being. I believe we meet many of the same "souls" over and over in different lives--sometimes as friends, sometimes as family members, sometimes as lovers. My personal reasons for believing as I do aren't important, just that I do.I hope everyone else is similarly certain in their beliefs.
-
Yes...RobBob beat me to it. It's only magnetic north that changes place with magnetic south. Not true north and south.

Our beliefs are astonishingly similar. It's quite comforting my dear binther!..(here’s a bit of flirting for you!) xxx!

"This is the real deal"How do you know that? How do you know that this life is not simply a test? (I'm imagine you're hoping it isnt, cause if it is you're screwed, ha ha)

BEDEVERE: Tell me ... what do you do with witches?VILLAGERS: Burn them.BEDEVERE: And what do you burn, apart from witches?FOURTH VILLAGER: More Witches!FIFTH VILLAGER ... Wood?BEDEVERE: So why do witches burn?SECOND VILLAGER: ... Because.. they're made.. of wood...?BEDEVERE: Gooooood.(PEASANTS stir uneasily then come round to this conclusion)ALL: I see. Yes, of course.BEDEVERE: So how can we tell if she is made of wood?FIRST VILLAGER: Make a bridge out of her.BEDEVERE: Ah ... but can you not also make bridges out of stone?ALL: Ah. Yes, of course ... yeah right....um ... err ...BEDEVERE: Does wood sink in water?ALL: No, no, It floats. Throw her in the pond Tie weights on her. To the pond.BEDEVERE: Wait. Wait ... tell me, what also floats on water?ALL: Bread? No, no, no. Apples .... gravy ... very small rocks ..ARTHUR: A duck. They all turn and look at ARTHUR. BEDEVERE looks up very impressed. BEDEVERE Exactly. So... logically ... FIRST VILLAGER (beginning to pick up the thread) If she ... weighs the same as a duck ... she's made of wood...BEDEVERE: And therefore?ALL: A witch! ... And then comes the part, that from now on, i shall think of you Steve.. BEDEVERE: Who are you who are so wise in the ways of science?Id also like to ask, if Angel turns me into a newt, will I get better?

The Black Knight ALWAYS triumphs! I am invincible!
Nice post.

hehe. You keep thinking that!King Arthur: [after Arthur's cut off both of the Black Knight's arms] Look, you stupid Bastard. You've got no arms left.Black Knight: Yes I have.King Arthur: Look!Black Knight: It's just a flesh wound. ---------------------God: What are you doing now?King Arthur: Averting our eyes, oh Lord.God: Well, don't. It's just like those miserable psalms, always so depressing. Now knock it off! ------------God: Every time I try to talk to someone it's "sorry this" and "forgive me that" and "I'm not worthy"... --------Sir Lancelot: We were in the nick of time. You were in great peril.Sir Galahad: I don't think I was.Sir Lancelot: Yes, you were. You were in terrible peril.Sir Galahad: Look, let me go back in there and face the peril.Sir Lancelot: No, it's too perilous.Sir Galahad: Look, it's my duty as a knight to sample as much peril as I can.Sir Lancelot: No, we've got to find the Holy Grail. Come on.Sir Galahad: Oh, let me have just a little bit of peril?Sir Lancelot: No. It's unhealthy.Sir Galahad: I bet you're gay.Sir Lancelot: Am not. ---------------------

Then suddenly--just as the Black Beast was about to overtake them--the animator suffered a fatal heart attack...Two can play at that game.

I hope everyone else is similarly certain in their beliefs. Sinc we don't really know what the truth is, even if thor is convinced that he does, why is it a virtue to believe in something just for the sake of believing in something? Does truth have no value at all, or does feeling good trump everything? You can believe as true the idea that you can jump off a building and not be harmed. Why would that be a good thing?______________thor:In reply to:"Yes" as to removing human control. That's the whole point of it. As far as "dictatorship" is concerned, this only applies if you are forced to follow. If we willingly do so, it's another matter entirely.Interesting discussion, but rather tangential to this thread.Anyway, you can measure the position of the north pole. It's repeatable. Lots of people can do it. How does that relate in any way to your spiritual beliefs? Why should people accept as truth the things that someone wrote down and called the word of God? How is faith the same thing as truth?______________steve>> This is the real dealstarfish> How do you know that? How do you know that this life is not simply a test?I don't know that, but I don't see any reason to believe otherwise. I don't know that I won't inherit a billion dollars next week, but I'm not going to start living now as if that might happen. And let's please not get into Pacal's bogus wager.______________What is it in our culture that makes people so dead set against the idea of not knowing? Why do we insist on and answer for things that we have no data about? Why is that kind of comfort so impotant?Apparently, fear of the unkown is the underpinning of most religious faith.

Déjà vu, from the dog-wanking thread.

That applies to the physical world. When people are talking about "energy" in spirituality, they're not talking about the same thing> And why not? Why can't spiritual energy be intertwined with the physical? The scientific definition (from physics) of energy is the capacity to do work. When people use "energy" in the spiritual or traditional Chinese healing art context, "energy" can mean any number of things.Go ask a Reiki practitioner to define "energy".
-
Yes, if you're talking about potential (as opposed to kinetic) energy.

My personal reasons for believing as I do aren't important, just that I doYou rock, and I totally agree. My definition of soulmate isn't the person your destined to be with, because I don't firmly belive in that. To me, a soulmate is just another "soul" your bound to somehow and destined to come into contact with in every one of your lives. It could be anyone, and it dosn't always nessesarly have to be a good one, you could have a soulmate thats destined to have some negitive impact on you in each life.>>personal reasons for believing as I do aren't important, just that I doAgreed, I belive alot of things that other people certanly wont understand and I dont feel i have to justify myself because them understanding why isn't important, It's the fact that thats what I think that's important.I don't eat any form of pigs and people often ask me why and I just say I don't belive in eating them. It's not a religious thing, and I don't feel I have to justify myself for that to everybody who asks.

What's the purpose?> I don't eat any form of pigs and people often ask me why and I just say I don't belive in eating them. It's not a religious thing, and I don't feel I have to justify myself for that to everybody who asks.If you're not a religious Muslim or Jew, and if you do eat meat, and if you don't dislike the taste of pork, that is pretty curious behavior. People are naturally curious about behavior outside of the norm."I don't belive in eating them." OK, since I don't want to piss you off, I won't ask you why. But is it OK if I eat them?
-
Destined? By whom? What's the purpose?not everything needs to have a purpose or point and I don't need to ask for one from everything.>>>OK, since I don't want to piss you off, I won't ask you why. I have given reasons on here befor and really can't be assed explaining myself again.>>> But is it OK if I eat them? lol, yes. I can do what ever the hell you feel like Steve, I'm not against other people eating them.
