Ok, I finally found a picture for my avatar thing. However it is much bigger that 90 by 90. How do I resize it and then apply it to my display name.

Resize pic

what do you mean "from another website?
-
Any image editing program, like the free Irfanview, will let you resize an image. Then, go to Image --> Resize/Resample, and make sure that neither dimension is greater than 90.

I use Paint.Open the pic in paint, then go to Image up the top, click strech/skew and type in 20 in each of the first two boxes and that should make it smaller. If its still to big, do it again to get it to the size you want. Then just upload the pic to a image hosting site like photo bucket.

all i do is put my avatar on my msn,go into a convo (so you can see the pic) press print screen, then paste it in paint and cut around. the size of the display pic is pretty close to 90 x 90, so its a LOT easier then trying to resize it.

That's more difficult and convoluted than just resizing yhe original.
-
nah, well for me it isnt ^\_^

Those guys are doing things the hard way. Paint is OK for drawing simple picures, but it's too brain-dead to do much else.

this site automatically resizes the avatar. It just can't maintain the aspect ratio.

...unless the original image is square. It's not the site that adjusts the size, it's your Web browser, given the info by the Web page of at what size the image should display. The problem with that is that some people put up enormous (in terms of file size rather than image size) images, which really sucks if you have a slow Internet connection. Thanfully, avatar display can be turned off, just like sig display.
