Hi everyone,Ok...I have recently been diagnosed with genital warts. I have a few around my penis area, very very small and are on the way of being treated by a liquid been prescribed my doctor, they are going nicely. However, I have a bit of different concern about genital warts..The last (almost a year up until about a month ago) - I was having problems with anal fissure (tears in the anal canal). It's only recently healed up after using lots of creams, a very painful time with open wounds. Now before I continue, I would like to state that I am 100% straight, always have been, no male sexual partners ever and no sort of anal play...However I have very very bad genital warts around my anus, they are getting worse and very large and clusterd (yes, disgusting). Now, my doc said that if I'm straight and haven't had "direct" contact with the virus in this area, it could have been me - touching my penis with the small warts (not realising) and treating my anal area with creams to treat the skin tears - whislt spreading this virus, this is the only possible way it could have happened. Now after explaining that, basically I would like to know what sort of treatment is availible to me for these in this area? I have been refered to the GUM clinic, in which my appointment is in 2 weeks, but I am curious to know what can be done? The penis area is easy enough to treat myself with the liquid that was prescribed to me, however the ones in my anal area are much much bigger, a lot more of them. They are very very itchy and sore. What can they do?Am I correct in saying when you have genital warts you will always have the virus?Or is there a way to get rid of the virus? Any medication? When they go from a spesific area, my doctor told me as long as this area doesn't get in contact with it again they won't come back in this area, is this true?Very scared, depressed and worried about all this, got nobody to talk too, they are making every day life very hard due to the constant itchyness (baring in mind I am using a cream in this area to "reduce" itchyness). Any information would be great. Thanks for anyones time.Sav

Genital warts...

What can they do?Usually large warts are treated through laser or cyrosurgery>>>>Am I correct in saying when you have genital warts you will always have the virus?Basically yes.. The goal is to kill as much of the virus as possible. Some wil be killed by antibodies others may remain dormant in the skin.>>>>>Or is there a way to get rid of the virus? Completely? Not really. or you couldn't tell if you did.>>>>>>>>Any medication? There is a new vaccination to prevent a few of the most common and damaging strains but has only been tested on women.>>>>>>>>When they go from a spesific area, my doctor told me as long as this area doesn't get in contact with it again they won't come back in this area, is this true? You may ge recurring warts but as long as you stay on top of it and treat it religeously, you may be able to kill it off to where it will be supressed and not recur. Be aware that there are a few strains that cause the warts. You have one strain. Can't say that you might not get infectewd with another strain in the future. It sicks but you'll get through this. Good luck.

What do you mean by "strain"?Thanks.

Ok, I've had them removed, but jesus the afterpain is terrible and very extreme. I'm using a cream throughout the day/night which cools the area but it's very temporary.Does anyone know how long until this extreme AGONY goes? I can barely sit down, lay down, sleep, walk, anything! Thanks.Sav

Removed... How?
-
Not sure what it's called, I didn't even realise she removed them it was that quick.A tool was used (looked pen-shaped or something) and I'm pretty sure they were burnt off.I'm in constant agony at present, I have an extreme sharp pain in my anus area constant, feels very very sore, hurts to sit/stand/move, use the toilet - very painful.I am using a cream which sooths the pain and it does an excellent job but it only sooths the area for a short amount of time. Obviously this pain is effecting my life big time, missed a week of college and work and if it takes a long time to heel up, next week could look the same. She has booked me in for 2 weeks time again, not sure why - perhaps to go over other areas which she missed (as the area was very raw and sore). But anyway, any idea if this pain will fade away any time soon, the pain is actually WORSE than anal tears.Any idea? Thanks.Sav

Did the doctor say whether warm baths would be OK? That might help with the pain.
-
Yea she did mention that, but I have warm baths anyway as I'm used to this area being sore.Warm baths and cream.Thing is, it doesn't seem to be getting better at all (in regards to the pain). So really not sure how long this is going to last...?

My wife had some larger ones lasered off. She was told to use warm salt sitz baths.

If your pain is not getting any better, you should give the doctor a call and ask her what she thinks is going on. Maybe she'll want to see you again and take a look at how it's healing.
