too close to bending the the rules here?the issue of the thread to wich you refer may require some careful concideration.that aside, I'd have to say my biggest frustration with a2a is technical rather tahn content related.

How would you like the boards improved?
-
There are some really mean people here. Im afraid to share some of my issues and ask for advice for fear of them using it against me as they have done to other people countless times. I wish this was a safer place.
-
I think we have a good crew and can handle any issues that comes up. I think we have a very diverse group of mods to help the younger members with their questions and concerns. The only problems I have usually is not being able to log on and when I do get on the site is usually very slow...This is for Dauntless.. I'm really sorry people think others are mean here. We try to keep peace, but freedom of speach one of our pillars...I don't know if this is helpful.

Anyone who posts commercial spam? Ban them. Anyone who ever has that I recall (except for one) has recieved a warning, and then has disappeared (which they would have anyway), or posts more spam and gets banned anyway. The one exception that I recall posted a ton of stuff pushing her MLM product, and then she created two or three more user IDs.Anyone who creates multiple user IDs to screw around with people? Ban them. There is no legitimate reason to do that.Anyone who doesn't like me? Ban them.OK, you can skip the third suggestion. The drop in traffic might be harmful to the Internet.

tapps foot i'm still waiting on the art section for here. lol (maybe a spell check so pete want have to spell waiting for me...lol)haven't decided if it's worth my health to get involved in all this or not
-
Welcome to A2A, Dauntless. I really hope you will feel able to post and share your issues, becauyse that's what this site is for.
-
That's a good idea!
-
I'd like to see a little less censorship(ie post deleted by whoever)I always thought I could make up my own mind hereI'd like to abolish the "is'nt this a dead thread" nazi brigade from the boardsIf you don't like it, don't join in! Also ....... afterthought.........How come moderators delete email addresses in text, but allow them in profiles, mods profiles included/?
-
oh... had a thought a while ago actually.
a "parenting" section might be useful -
"There are some really mean people here. Im afraid to share some of my issues and ask for advice for fear of them using it against me as they have done to other people countless times. I wish this was a safer place"i second that....there were so many times that i wanted to put my two cents forth...but i was afraid of being told off or insulted

like I said.. tech issues

In reply to:a "parenting" section might be useful I second that. It could be helpful to some of the younger members who seem to think that its ok to treat their parents like crap.
-
lol... I was thinking more along the lines of parents looking for advice

I would like to see people more tolerant of other people's viewpoints. This forum has its groundroots in the freedom of speech of all members, no matter how unpopular they are. If someone doesn't agree with your viewpoints, then fine. Also, we moderators aren't perfect. Let's get that straight. There have been plenty of people, regular members and moderators alike, that have said things about black women that I found offensive. So, no one's perfect here, so don't go around accusing others if your closet isn't clean. As far as the sarcasm, it needs to be stamped out. If you don't have anything relevant to say, then don't say it. I see some veterans and avid posters who continue to do this and it's really not helpful. So, if you don't have anything useful to contribute to a thread, then don't contribute at all.

I figured, but thought i'd bring it up anyway :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Is the original poster looking for feel-good things that are unlikely to happen (we've been telling each other to be nice forever, on this Web site, other Web sites, and most unmoderated Usenet news groups as well), or is he looking for concrete suggestions that "management" can implement? Adding a forum on partenting and requestiong that spammers be summarily banned are examples of concrete suggestions.
-
Well, I think any ideas are welcomed. And what I suggested can happen if people will take the moral high ground, get off their high horse (and the computer), and learn to tolerate others.
Get a life, people:grin:
-
You can tell people to be nice until you're blue in the face, but I wouldn't hold my breath for human nature to take a sudden U-turn.
What practical things can be done to make this small part of the world a better place? I suggest instlling a new version of MySQL, or tuning the old one not to die so easily, if possible.
-
I suppose it raises the question... do we tollerate intollerance?
