Agreed, although it's been nice not to have image tags enabled in sigs (apparently there's no way to disable them only in sigs). Not having them enabled also prevents so especially nasty spammers from posting very offensive images all over the place. If the Terms of Service were actually enforced, only a few posts a day would get through.

How would you like the boards improved?
-
I want to point out that all the suggestions in this thread are being listened to. Rather than start judging their merits at this stage, I'd rather keep the ideas flowing. Remember, people, no discussion of individuals in this thread.
-
pinkranger4> 1. If any thread goes off topic.. it should be locked immediately..The thread that you just started went off topic in no time flat. If the mods started locking threads that drifted, they'd have to be on 24/7, doing nothing else.Ineligible> Remember, people, no discussion of individuals in this thread. Sometimes a person will become angry with another member, and they think it would be a better place if the person who offends them would disappear. Stuff like that, among many other things, should go into the ChitChat thread, which is underutilized. Many posts should go there rather than as starts of new threads.
-
well, i know its not an ultra intelligent suggestion but, maybe a way to seperate the off topic posts from the on-topic? like a different color scheme when it shows up on the thread and a button to press to signify that itll be off topic, (i know someone will say that itd just be easier to not go off topic, but the flirting and such is probably what keeps alot of people here) and then for the ones who dont wish to view the off topic posts just specify as such like with the , "flat" or "threaded" options
-
How about we hire a few dozen Mods and implement the whole Post Approval system.
-
Would there be an appeals process for discontented folks who've had their posts rejected?
-
A recent thread ended up running off-topic into a discussion concerning the running of the boards, so I thought it would be better to have a thread specifically on the topic. One strict rule, however: no specific people are to be mentioned, only general principles. So you are not to say "I think X should be banned", but you may say "People who do (a particular type of behaviour) should be banned". Try to look for the general principle. Posts in this thread that mention specific people will be deleted.Let's try to keep the discussion positive with helpful suggestions. The owner of this board is strongly committed to maximum freedom of speech, but let's put that aside for this thread and consider what you as members of the community want.

Yes, but it would be conditional. All appeals must be made using a E-10063 form signed in triplicate, sent in, sent back, lost, found, queried, subjected to public inquiry, lost again, and finally buried in soft peat for three months and recycled as firelighter.

I think there are certain members here who come on to socialize and cut up people...Its sickening.
-
What's "cut up?" Sorry, I don't speak slang.

make fun of people.. bash them.. etc etc
-
In other words, people comming on here to get thier jollies by making fun of people, petty name calling, basically tearing thier posts apart because they feel it's funny.
-
Or to impress their online friends.
-
What are the chances of any of the technical issues being resovled? Is it all wishful thinking or is there actually a way to deal with it?
-
That's something the owner fo the site would have to be willing to do. I personally would love something to be done because lately the site has been running soooo slow and making it hard for me to check the forums.
-
I've just given up and logged out a couple of times recently because it's been running so slowly. It is a pain in the arse..
-
actually, is it possible we could start taking donations for a new server? maybe email the doc and see what he thinks of the idea? that would probably work
-
Not a bad idea really. Another site I used to moderate for had the function where you could donate money to the operations of the site. They even set up an account with Cafe Express and had the sites logo available on shirts and such along with a slogan, ended up generating a lot of funds for the site.

We could have an A2A t-shirt design competition!
Here is my entry!
I'm currently working on my "Dude, its your sister!" design...
