I was reading up on "Mojo" which is a testosterone booster you take before working out to help you get through your workout. I can't find a website that shows the pro's and con's of this however and I am curious what the negative side effects would be. If anyone has heard anything or knows of a similar product please let me know.

Mojo

Anabolic steroids also promote testosterone. This is what causes shrinking of the testies because to make up for the chemical imbalance the part of the testies not involved with sperm production decrease in size as it is not producing hormones. I wouldn't suggest it.

This is supposed to be very low powered and nothing like steroids. It is liquid and not nearly like roids. I don't think :{

All I could find are ads for liquid mojo. That sounds suspicious. Like most of that kind of stuff, it's almost certainly b*llsh*t, and could possibly cause harm.
I don't understand why people would be willing to put into their bodies some unknown substance, possibly contaminated with God knows what, things that have an allegedly medical effect, but that are unproven.

How old are you? AFAIK testosterone boosters are only needed for older men (40+) who cannot produce testosterone like they used to.

I am 18. A few of my friends use it and say it helps them put on muscle faster. I know a few football players at school who used it as well. I was just trying to get a few more opinions.

When you increase your testosterone, your body will usually responding by producing less testosterone, thus making any small boosters pretty much useless. Steroids are an exception to this because they produce far more testosterone than your body was originally producing so your body can't compensate (and your testies shrink because the cells involved in testosterone production become temporarily inactive).If you're looking for a supplement, look into weight gainer formulas and creatine. Creatine is one of the few supplements that's actually had some testing done and there's a lot of agreement that it is beneficial to muscle gain. I still wouldn't recommend it myself, being that it can be hard on the kidneys because they're forced to rid the body of the extra creatinine byproducts produced, but if not used excessively it's relatively safe.
