hey guys, a few weeks back there was some scraping on my penis due to having sexual intercourse with my partner.. it didn't hurt at all, just looked a little tender, so we eased up the the sex and the tender spots began to disappear as i had figured, they're still somewhat there, so before bed at night i had been applying some skin lotion/cream to my penis hoping to speed up the healing process.. i used a different lotion last night, it was an over the counter lotion that was supposed to "replenish and rejuvenate your skin"... i remember it saying it contained collagen if that's any help.. anyways, i applied it to my penis, mainly the foreskin area (i was careful that i didn't get any in the urethra) and went to bed. i woke up this morning and the foreskin on my penis had swelled up, no blisters or anything of the sort, just swollen. i looked on the back of the lotion bottle and it did say "irritation may occur". so i applied some calamine lotion to my penis today and i'm thinking the swelling should go away within the next 24-48 hours.. am i correct in assuming that's what will happen? or will i need to take further steps??thanks

Swelling of the penis due to skin lotion..

I don't really recommend applying anything to the penis especially if you are intact. The foreskin is rather sensitive and trapping topical solutions between the head and forskin is asking for trouble as you found out. Just wash it thoroughly with water only and just give it a rest. It will recover on it's own.

thanks for the quick response.. so the calamine lotion will do more harm then good as far as helping me get back to normal in your opinion?

I don't know that it will do you any harm, bt you really don't need anything. Just time.

These creams are mainly moisturisers, and they mainly work by putting water into the skin cells, making them plump up, which hides the smaller wrinkles. The foreskin is very thin and sensitive skin, and I suspect the cream has done the same to it, but the effect is stronger. As sdp says, time is all you need.
