IDK...it is almost like she likes being sick or something...Though I TOTALLY know that isn't the case.

If they did a colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy, it's hard to understand why they didn't do a biopsy. It's easy once the pipe's up there.
-
I don't know what it was called, the only internal thing I KNOW they did, was that she swallowed a camera...sorta like swallowing a pill, only larger. Sort of a capsule thing. They weren't in there with a scope like one normally thinks of.I just don't know if they did any other stuff..

Pillcam ESO. I cool new method for endoscopy.
-
Whoops. Yeah, I have Crohns Disease. lol. I assumed you knew. That's what assumptions get me!
-
So, she's having problems with her pancreas and is still in the process of being diagnosed, correct?
-
Pillcam ESO. I cool new method for endoscopy. It's like Fantastic Voyage, but without the little people.

Yes. It has been about 2.5 years since she started seeing the doctors.Like I said, she gets tired of explaining why she is so tired to people so, she doesn't talk about it much, and my mother won't. Other than to say she is still alive.Last update I had, was that she had nothing wrong with her pancreas, it just looked a little "plump" yet was displaying standard signs of pancreatitis....URGH...I wish she would just get in here and ask questions. I have recommended it to her several times.** not that some one here will have the answer, but maybe give her some good questions to ask the doc.

Have they checked for H Pylori that you know of? Just something else she might want to look into. It normally starts in the stomach (Ulcers) but can eventually travel into other organs as well like the liver and such.

Yup! My doc is actually thinking about doing that with me, but holding off because at this point he's not sure it's really needed because I had a colonoscopy done about 3 years ago and everyhing was normal. But it's an option for down the road.

I do know that they looked into ulcers. Nothing there.I spoke with my other sis last night, who lives like 2 blocks from my mom. (I am 200 miles from them) Basically, the doc's could have a bit of a diagnosis, if my baby sis would do ANYTHING for more than 3 days. I can't say for sure..lol, but as far as we know, she hasn't stuck to any diet changes, probiotics, or anything for long enough to see if it is going to work.Eosiniphilic gastroenteritis, celiac's, gluten allergy. All three things have NOT been ruled out. And those are just things that I know of... Next week, Coco,is heading to San Francisco again to see the docs there. She is 19, and if she is not going to help herself IDK that there is a lot we can do.Very frustrating. I have Graves disease, which is an autoimmune disease, who knows where in the family it came from, Coco should be taking her illness seriously, but I almost think she likes the attention. I also don't think that she realizes that my disease could have been fatal...my resting heart rate, at the worst part of the disease, was 144bpm!!! Heart attack city!

The pillcam will show your whole system, colonoscopy only goes so far. Definitly something to look into. What if your troubles are from farther up?

Same thing I wonder as well. I've had the colonoscopy, which only went to the small intestines and of course they went no further. Than a few years later (about a month ago), I had the endoscope (Upper GI) done and they went into the beginning of my small intestines where they did a biopsy for Celiac’s Disease (which was negative) and while in the stomach they did a biopsy for H Pylori, which was also negative.Prior to this I did have a small bowel follow through. Basically I had to drink barium and every 10-15 minutes they took an x-ray to see how the barium was progressing through the small intestines. They did a live feed with an ultrasound before I left. According to the follow through everything was normal.I’ve had multiply CAT scans, MRI’s, blood work, Ultrasounds, and tried about as many medications as you can think of with nothing showing up, which of course is worrying the docs because obviously something is wrong and yet nothing gives them a clue why.

Eosiniphilic gastroenteritis,??? It's a new one on me...and apparently rare enough that the docs don't find it often either...If you have a good repore with the doc, bring this shot in the dark to his attn...

Hmm Well I write it down and will look it up and see what it's all about. I don't see my specialist again though until March, he wants me to try these probioics and the Robinul Forte for a couple months and go from there. BUT if it sounds like something up my ally (no pun intended lol) I'll be giving him a call

There doens't seem to be much information on this disorder. Mainly what I have found is:What is Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis?Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis is a rare disease in which the lining of the stomach, small intestines and large intestines become infiltrated with eosinophilis. Eosinophilis is a type of white blood cell.Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis can spread to other organs. It mostly affects children and young adults. Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis is also referred to as EG.Symptoms of Esoinophilic Gastroenteritis? The most common symptoms are:abdominal painweight lossnausea and vomitingdiarrheabloody diarrheaWhat causes Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis? The exact cause is unknown.Treatment Options for Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis? It can be treated. Corticosteriod medications are usually successful in treating eosinophilic gastroenteritis. How is Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis diagnosed?Your doctor will take a biopsy of the tissue in your stomach, small intestines and large intestines to see if you have eosinophilic gastroenteritis.

Well,my interpretation to the stuff I have read...(which isn't much, as you discoverd, it has alot of unknowns) is that it is almost like (or is) an autoimmune disease, triggered by an allergy. The white blood cells actually start attacking parts of the digestive tract. Sometimes, just the stumache, esophigus, duadenum, small intestine, large intestine, any combo, or the whole tract. Just that the basic symptoms fit alot of the standard IBS stuff...so?????? Like I said "shot in the dark".I really question it in my sis, because it has the autoimune quality to it. And she is on the steroid shots that really seem to help.

Just FYI:I've been taking Primal Defense probiotics. This is the end of Day 4 and I'm seeing a difference already. The difference between this probiotic than any other is it contains Homeostatic Soil Organisms.

I've seen probiotics in a refrigerator case at Wild Oats. Otherwise, if the bacteria are just sitting in capsules, how do they stay alive between the time the capsule in manufactured and the time you ingest it?
