I dont really have an accent, that doesent mean that i have a Hugh Grant accent like all British people sound like in films :sIm from Norfolk, UK which the traditional dialect is pretty much dead.Guess its kinda like...'Aite mayte, how yer doin'?' 'yeh yeh me to' d'ya fancy goin' down the pub for a few (drinks).Damn this is hard to do :P
-
What does your accent sound like?
-
I have a New Yorker accent now. I used to have a French accent but thank God it's now gone. Sometimes I falter though. And because of my family I appear to have a Jamaican accent but basically, New York accent.
-
I'm from Texas so of course I've got an accent... I normally speak with a southern drawl, but because I live in an area filled with a mixture of accents I tend to pick up the diffrent accents from the people I'm around. Maybe I'm just retarded lol
-
I dont have one Except I say "ya know?" and "eh" and "aboot"
-
I have a sort of boston accent mixed with New York accent. I have a total New Englander accent though, always saying "wikid."
-
Wikkid pissah! I told my friend Edgahhh where to paaahk, but he don't speak Bostn -- he's not a retahhhd though.
-
I talk like that sometimes, I'm not going to lie.
-
I lived in Pee-bd-ee for a while. I almost started talking like that.
-
ok, someone who has heard my accent is going to have to describe it because as far as I'm concerned, I talk normal!
-
That's stupidI don't have an accent, it's everyone else that sounds weird.
-
Oh really? How long did you live there?
-
Eleven yeahz, near Lynn Woods, and Lynn, Lynn, city of sin, always on fire, and Lynnfield, where the rich folks were.
-
Not as rich as the people of Wenham
-
Or Boxford, Topsfield, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Pride's Crossing, and the polo-playing folks of Hamilton. They don't talk quite the same way as the Lynn and Pebody folks. They used to burn alleged witches around there (in what was part of Danvers, and is now Salem).
-
You consider Hamilton and Wenham one place, we all do anyways. Hamilton/Wenham is considered one community.
-
Hamilton and Wehnam are separate towns, but the share a lot of stuff, like schools and churches. Hamilton is more politically-conservative. In fact, it might be the most politically-conservative town in the state. The Naaawth Shawww, on the way to Glaaaastahh and Rockpawt. I think I screwed up my left knee climing the rocks in Magnolia or Rockpawt. I screwed up my other knee at Killington. How come people don't talk funny in Vermont?Do you remember the "How Many Dunkin Donuts between here and there" Saturday Night Live sketches? "You can't get theah from heah." (One of the sketches involved getting to the Bedfudd Mawl in Bedfudd, NH -- I had a neighbor who sold women's underwear at the Jawdn Maash that used to be there -- "take a left at the retahdid kid".) Adam Sandler is from Manchestuh, NH, and Amy Poehler is from Buhlingtun, MA. They also had some funny sketches about Boston-area mall rats, and the had the accents down -- but they were from there.
-
I never heard that considering I live in Wenham. I'm actually basically dating a gal from Gloucester, haha. It's so weird you mentioning this stuff, it seems really distant for some reason.
-
Wenham Town Hall is at 138 Main Street, Wenham
Hamilton's Town Hall is at 577 Bay Road, HamiltonI knew a girl from Gloucester long ago. Her father was a lobstuhmin, and she married a navy guy.
Kids in Gloucester really like to drink and drug it up...not sure how it is now, with the fishing industry in decline. Wave to the Gloucester Fisherman statue for me.
I remember when the no-name ("Pefect") storm came through in 1991 or 1992. Some houses on the water in Gloucester and Rockport wound up in the water. Around the same time a hurricane came through (which was not nearly as serious as the no-name storm), the eye of which went right over Peabody. That was around the same time my parents rode out Hurricane Andrew in Miami.

Gloucester is now runned by hip hop music. All these annoying teen girls run around pretending to be puerto-rican. A lot more Brazillians there too.
-
Interesting. The Boston area has a big Brazillian population (like Miami -- they both also have the largest Hatian populations, outside of Haiti). Gloucester seemed to always suffer from the stereotypical working class problems, but more so. There is (or at least was) a lot of heroin trafficking in that town.
