Now that summer has come it seems all my time is spent either working, reading or thinking. I realise I'm in the same predicament that many others who have posted on this board have been: basically I'm directionless at the moment.I've just finished my first year at uni, doing some arts and law. Although I have some interests in those subjects it seems I'm doing law just because it will guarantee me a good job once I graduate, but is that what I really want? The last 2 weeks I've been reading prolifically, 9 or 10 books I think, in a range of different areas (science, history, fiction, non-fiction) and they're all pretty interesting. I like expanding my knowledge of things, especially things like philosophy, psychology etc. But I can't really see myself making a career out of it. I don't know what I'm ranting about really. I dragged out some life goals I wrote about a year back, none had anything to do with a particular career, more things like travelling, experiencing new things etc. Come to think of it, work is called work for a reason, we don't all get paid for what we love doing.Blah, I'm ranting. I wish I could read books for a career, I always enjoy getting lost in a good book. Or maybe travel the world, go skydiving in weird location, that would be cool too.So yeah... I don't know what I was looking for in response to this. Who here has an enjoyable fulfilling career? If so how/when/why did you find it?

In reply to: Although I have some interests in those subjects it seems I'm doing law just because it will guarantee me a good job once I graduate, but is that what I really want? I know that part pretty well myself. My whole family tried to get me to do engineering or architecture in college, and then do an art course after that. Their reasoning was that I should get a degree that I could fall back on and get a job with should the art thing go wrong. It might be something for you to think about, while you're doing the law course try and find out what you're really interested in. When you're finished law then you can go do that and if it doesn't work out then you'll have the law to fall back on.

You like the reading so well, what about finding something to do with editing? Can you correct other peoples work? or does it entail too much research for you?
Just a thought...someday we will find what fits us!!!

Bob: that sounds pretty logicalPepsi: I read more for getting the ideas rather than the details, I think a would find it a bit tedious. But thanks for the thought.
