Well, I'm afraid I now find myself in a position where I must eat my own words... my x-box 360 does not indeed rock, in fact, it is now a £300 paperweight, as I just connected to Live! to play "Gears" online, and, oh no, it wanted to download a patch... ah, whatever... 5 minutes to game time... lets get a cup of tea right? WRONG! it's now 2 hours later, I have scoured ALL the help forums, rang MS's support line (closed) and sent an email, even read through well over 100 forum pages of content regards this update... it has KILLED my x360... and, looking at a lot of the forums, MS are refusing to pay for the repairs... well, I shall keep you updated as to if they manage to get this fixed... if they want me to pay for something that they have messed up, they have another thing coming... The Sun has already had a massive rant about MS last year, when the PSU's were overheating and blowing up!!!
GRRRRR!!!!!!! Now, I really wanna play Gears, but, I'm sorely tempted, soon as my 360 is fixed to trade it for a Wii ... Sony are having way to many problems too... seems Nintendo are set to pull this one back out of the bag after all  ... ah well, I just dusted off my Dreamcast for now  time for a bit of soul caliber... no, wait, snes time!!! ooooh, Killer Instinct, and, Super Mario bros games.... mmmmm, and my NES... is anyone bar me old enough to remember the original Metal Gear game? lmao
Anyway, retro gaming, here I come!!! \*waves a sad bye bye to x360\*
Quick side note: wonder if the 360 will work this well 20 years after it was built!!!! ... My NES is still going strong, and, whilst I have a bit of discolouring on the SNES it still works!!!! ... parts are a bit of a pain, but, hey  the NES IS in fact 21 years old (circa: 1985), and, the SNES is 14 years old now (UK release: April 1992) so, what can you expect for buying parts... ah well, bargain bin in the second hand puter shops seems to keep me in controllers, and, other bits and bobs

My sister called me last night just to tell me how fun the Wii is. Her boyfriend bought one, but since he's stuck in bed sick, she gets to play it most of the day. She went on explaining how she was playing boxing and get getting beat up. But once she got used to it and started duckin and weaving punches, she rules now. LOL. I definitely want to get one. Animal Crossing would be fun. Since my family live in different areas, if we all had a wii we could mess with each other's towns and stuff and even visit when they are not there using wiiconnect24

well, MS have sent me a UPS code number to send off my x-box... apparently: it is still inside the warranty period, but, if it wasn't... even though, this is a fault caused by THEIR software update, they would want ME to pay for the cost of repair, personally, I find this totally unacceptable, so, I'll be looking into whether this is even legal, and, quite possibly, selling the console when I get it back, as I don't feel supported by them if they're going to do that ... love the console still, but, it's never goin back online, and, what's the point of having that console if you can't go online... that's half the fun :SAnyway, at least MS fixing it, gotta look into the other stuff On a side note, there must be a lot of problems at the moment because, I was just waiting for what seemed like forever on their 0800 (freephone/toll free depending what you wanna call it) number, so, I tried their 0207 number, and got through within 10 minutes... fair enough, it wasn't toll free, but, it comes off my free minutes with my phone contract so I don't really see it as an issue lolAnd, the Wii is out on Friday here... I had one on order, but, they never rang me to put my £10 deposit down, so, apparently, I hafta get there early if I want one :S ... oh well, I'm in no rush, it can wait till after christmas Dan

A buddy at work was telling me that SONY apparently pushed the PS3 too soon and they are having technical problems with the blu-ray technology that's incroporated in the console. $500-$600 is way too expensive to be buying something that will break on you in the matter of less than a month!
-
Blue Ray has always been a problem with this console... essentially, they're testing prototype technology, and, trying to push it way to quickly before they'd even finished all the research on it, they're also having BIG problems with full HD... supposedly, there'll be a downloadable patch to fix this early in the consoles life span, but, thanks to what's happened with my 360, do they really think we'll trust downloads, even if they're from Sony???? I somehow doubt it... any patches I get now Firmware wise, will be very carefully thought out!!on a sidenote: Wii is released this Friday here (8th Dec) and, has already sold out on preorders alone!!! Go Nintendo!! lol ... seems, it'll be the only happy console this yearDan

ok anyone else invison a few of the guys from final fantasy (Sony) and Master Chief and some other hit game on Xbox and than mario and link all racing and just before the finish line both the sony and xbox people end up losing legs and such and Mario and Link just walk calmly past the finish line... laughing at the technical problems of the other two? yeah i know confusing and poorly structured
-
this discussion is cute... like when all our dads and grandads used to argue about Ford, Chev, Dodge lmaoMy son and I like the PS2... I'll get a PS3 when the bugs are worked out and the price drops (is it backwards compatable with the old games?)
-
Good to see MS agreed to fix your 360. I would have raised hell over it if they didnt. One cool thing I saw about the 360 was that it connects to Windows clients, and provides some sort of media center functionality...i actually just discovered this when i first booted my new computer, it informed me it found an xbox 360 on my schools network.
-
Dantek... you just reminded my of a video I saw yesterday... it's only a trailer for this years E3 (wish I could make the journey to america to see the show, but, so darned expensive) Console Wars Dan
-
PS3 is "supposed" to be backward compatible, BUT, as for confirmation of this, I think you'd need to check with someone who has the console, because, I know that MS in their infinate wisdom, in an effort to make people go online, released the xbox backward compatibility patch on their Live! server... so, I've had to have all my friends round here to download that patch for them... needless to say, none of them are going on Live! after the problem with mine!! lol

Yep, if they hadn't agreed to fix it for free, it would have been time to go to trading standards, and, take things up with the press... we all know how they love to dis MS and, with a problem affecting almost all of the original buyers of 360... that's a lot of people!!!Reading up on the tech specs, it looks like it could be a problem with the software and the cpu, for my xbox... because, apparently, the design was changed subtely (don't know how true this is, this is just what I've found in a few tech threads) when they changed manufacturers, so, basically, it's everyone with a first gen 360 that's suffered with this patch.Gee, thanks for checking if it works on the first 360's MS... just feels like a big kick in the teeth, after buying the 360 pretty much, for Halo 3 last year at launch, and, Halo 3 is now delayed yet again... anyone remember Duke Nukem Forever??? or was it.. Duke Nukem Whenever??? seems somewhat reminiscent of that!!Just hope this one actually gets released, anyway, I might not even bother to wait now, I might just trade in my 360 for the Wii ... fed up with Microsoft's attitude over this ... apparently, in america, the guyz and girlz who've had this problem have been forced to fork out $149 to get it fixed!!!! That's just so wrong, if it's a problem caused by a software patch released by MS... which it is!!!!anyway, it's getting done, which is the main thing so, mustn't grumble, as the saying goes Dan

I'm looking forward to Smash Brothers Brawl. Introducing the first non-nintendo character... from metal gear, snake himself!
-
actually, if you do your research... I have the original NES game where snake first appears... so, whilst he appeared to the "new" generation of consoles (original psx)... all of us children of the 80's must surely remember snake from the original Metal Gear heh heh heh ... great game ... ahhhh, 8bit wonders!!! lolSpeaking of 8 bit wonders... I wonder when we'll get to see a new "Galaxians" or "Arcadians" (depending which platform you had it on) game appear heh heh... ah, space invaders clones gone crazy!!! lolDan
-
lol i love some of the older games like the older final fantasies, but my all time favorite game of frick-fuckin-ever is shining fucking force i love that game
-
Everyone can laugh at me...BUT....we have game cube...and cant find games? is our only choice ebay? I have small children, so no gory stuff...
-
get the wii its is way much cooler than the ps3 and the xbow360and the ps3 i shit some will work ad alot dont work
-
I was never a big metal gear solid fan. Though, I was always a big final fantasy fan.
-
do you mean you cant find games period or cant find games for your kids? because gamecube is still relatively newish and i still see the games on the shelves at wal mart and such, and i believe nintendo is geared more towards kids anyways because i havent seen much for gory looking games on gamecube
-
Nintendo have gone towards a mainly younger market than the others. The Gamecube didn't do well for them, however, and relatively few games have been released on it, and this year especially very little: they are concentrating on the Wii now.
-
I don't see em on the shelves, and I even hit the used store..to no avail.
