I need some with my computer help. like i dont know much about computers so go easy on me. but heres the problem.my brothers computer is always on, and he made a folder on it so i can keep my files on it. that way he can back it up sometimes (dont even ask). But he has it so i can get the files from my computer, like the folder is shared. But the problem is i cant open some of my files from my computer, there all in the same folder but some just wont open it says "error, access is denied. make sure the disk isnt full or writeprotected or in use. " . My brother is like stumped cause its ok with some files and just says it should work. Does anyone know what might be wrong with it, its really anoying. Thank you.

What operating system is he running?Have him compare the security settings of a file that you can access and one that you can't. I'm sure threre's some difference. You would do that by a Right-click > properties > security

Thanks i will have him check that later tonight.i have windows xp and he has windows 2000. is it ok that they are different?

I found that Microsoft networking between XP and 98 was very flaky, and some files simply wouldn't transfer for reasons I was never able to fathom, so it may be similar between XP and 2000.

Windows 98 was a toy. I don't think there are those kinds of problems between Windows 2000 and XP. The main problem is that the home (not Pro) version of XP is missing some networking stuff.
