Just to add to sdp's explanation, PAL, NTSC and SECAM are three different standards for colour, invented when colour television first appeared. NTSC is used in the US, Canada, Mexico and Japan and some other countries in Central and South America and in the US sphere of influence. SECAM is French and is used in most Francophone parts of the world, and also in much of Eastern Europe, including Russia. PAL is used in the UK, most of Western Europe, Australia, and generally around the world. Some TVs will handle more than one system. The three standards

since you're questions already answered, how much is the Wii going for? edit: and for the second time, 500 posts!!!

One more thing, it's not only a color standard, it's also a frame rate standard. NTSC supports 29 frames per second while PAL is at 25 fps. Yeah, PAL is for Greece too. I just hate waiting for a game to be made from NTSC to PAL, which takes from 3 months to a year. I found out that this site http://www.high-techproductions.com/pal,ntsc.htm is wrong about which countries are using which standards. Correct ones are at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAL --> Phase Alternating Line.-Good luck buying that wii, Ashley.-Although I think a PS3 would be a better choice.
