Hi, I just started taking the birth control pill Ortho Tri-Cylen Lo last Sunday Dec. 17th, at 9pm. Since Sunday I've been taking it religiously at 9pm every single night exactly. My doctor told me to wait until the Sunday after my period to take my first dose. I started my period on Monday Dec. 10th, and ended Friday Dec. 14th. In the insert and on the manufacturers website it says to use condoms for the first 7 days of having sex on the pill. After that it is safe not to. I had unprotected sex the Monday after I took the pill. Dec. 18th. Which was day 9 of my cycle (my cycle is fairly normal around 27 - 29 days. My fiancee ejaculated but did pull out before doing so. We are abstaining from sex until I've been on the pill for 7 days. Any advice on my chances of being pregnant? Thanks.

Sorry another thing...When we do have sex we can't use condoms, we have so many problems. He gets erect enough, puts one on, and we can only have sex for about 3 minutes or so before he loses it. He says he has absolutely no sensation and the only time he feels anything is when it's unprotected...Condoms are out of the question for us. That's the reason I got on the pill to begin with. Basically I'm asking if the pill alone is enough to protect me as long as I take it everyday like I should? Or should I have him withdrawl and ejaculate outside of me everytime as well. I really don't want to cause a break in the sensation and pleasure if it isn't needed. I don't know much about BC pills, thanks!

Hi sami, welcomne to AfraidToAsk. I think if he pulled out before ejaculating you'd be very unlikely to be pregnant. It's not a reliable general form of contraception but in a once-off the chances are low.About condoms - could it be that your fiancé needs a larger size condom? Using too small a size can make it hard to maintain an erection and it can have a numbing effect. The birth-control pill has a good contraceptive record for most people, though one or two people here have found it hasn't been perfect.
